Establish a suitable work area computer (desktop or laptop) with internet connection desk chair access to a telephone storage area for your materials eg cupboard bookshelf or
even a box pinup board or wall to display important information stationery supplies work area needs to be
a quiet calm location away from distractions eg TV music and small children
well ventilated suitably lit ndash back lighting is recommended a desk lamp
may be needed
Required ICT resources an internet connected Windows pc (version 7 or above) or
Apple Mac (os version 107 or above) Unsuitable devices Ipads and tablets
a headset with a microphone via USB connection access to a reliable high-speed internet connection
including email a standard operating environment including an up-to-date
web browser and software Adobe Flash Player Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and Adobe Acrobat (or equivalent)
access to a printer scannerdigital camera and data storage

Getting Started Learning Online
Required texts and resourcesYear 11 and 12 students must purchase SIDE required texts and materials as soon as possible after enrolment Detailed information is on the SIDE website (AdmissionCostsPersonalItems and Resources)
Students new to SIDE will be emailed information about how to commence their study program This information includes the studentrsquos user name and password for Moodle It is sent to the studentrsquos email address provided as part of the enrolment application before the start of the school year or immediately after the enrolment is processed The email is titled Getting Started at SIDE Students previously enrolled at SIDE will not receive an email and should use their Moodle and Saba login details from the previous year
The Portal is the gateway to accessing student DoE emails and the online Saba classroom
SabaIs an online classroom that allows teaching to happen in real time The SIDE teacher is the presenter and the student is the participant Lessons are scheduled by teachers and students are expected to attend at the allocated daytime Saba sessions are recorded and students are expected to watch the playback if they miss a lesson
