    FAIRFAX FBLA/FCCLA

    Fairfax FBLA

    This year the Fairfax FBLA chapter has grown from

    eight members last year to 13 this year. FBLA contestwas divided up into two different categories this year: (1)

    Objective Testing and (2) Performance Events. All students

    who were competing in the objective testing portion of the

    contest took computer-based exams on January 12 at the

    Fairfax school.

    FBLA performance events for contest will be held on

    February 12 at Northwest Missouri State University.

    Competing in the performance events are: Ryan Hopkins

    - Public Speaking 2, Dakota Allen - Public Speaking 1, and

    Jase Barnes - Impromptu Speaking. The team event, Jase

    Barnes, Crystal Yocum, and Trevor Brown - Sports and

    Entertainment Management, finished in the top five of the

    pre-qualifying round.

    This year, 2014 graduates Alyssa Lewis and Baylee

    Lewis will be assisting the Fairfax chapter at contest,

    acting as performance events judges. The scores for both

    the objective testing and the performance events will be

    graded and posted at Northwest Missouri State University

    on February 12.

    Once again during the Fairfax Fair the Fairfax FCCLA

    Chapter provided a taco salad stand. This allows the chapter

    to raise a large portion of the chapter’s operating funds and

    serve our local communities.

    One of the many opportunities chapter members have toacquire leadership skills is by attending conferences and

    competing in STAR events. These events take a large portion

    of our chapter’s operating budget.

    We appreciate the wonderful support of the community

    each year and enjoy our time providing a healthful meal.

    This year’s new officers for the

    Fairfax FCCLA chapter include:

    President - Crystal Yocum is a

    senior at Fairfax and has participated

    in FCCLA for four years. She is the

    daughter of Laurie and Phil Yocum.

    The duties of the president are topreside at chapter meetings; appoint

    the committees and serve as ex-officio

    member on all committees; make an

    agenda for each monthly meeting with

    advisor approval.

    1st Vice President - Amber

    Clark  is a junior at Fairfax and has

    participated in FCCLA for threeyears. She is the daughter of Sherry

    and Danny Clark. The duties of the

    1st Vice President are to assist the

    president and to preside at meetings in

    the absence of that officer, and to make

    sure all activities and chapter events

    get placed in the announcements, and

    remind FCCLA members of monthly

    meetings.

    2nd Vice President - Goldie

    Barnes  is currently a sophomore

    and has participated in FCCLA for

    two years. Her parents are Holly

    and Tracy Barnes. The duties of the

    2nd Vice President are to preside at

    meetings in the absences of any officer

    and to provide the group recreation and

    relaxers at chapter meetings.

    Secretary - Caitlyn O’Riley  is

    also a sophomore and has participated

    in FCCLA for two years. She is the daughter

    of Shaun and Sam O’Riley and Amy and Mike

    Klosek. The duty of the secretary is to keep

    an accurate record of the proceedings at all

    meetings and to take care of all correspondence

    concerning the chapter.

    Treasurer - April Clark is a junior and has

    participated in FCCLA for three years. She is

    the daughter of Sherry and Danny Clark. The

    duties of the treasurer are to propose an annual

    budget, collect membership dues and other

    assessments, to keep an accurate account of all

    chapter funds, to present reports at all regular

    chapter meetings, and announce expenses and

    FCCLA chapter balance at each meeting.Reporter - Audrae Bates has participated

    in FCCLA for two years and is a sophomore

    at Fairfax. She is the daughter of Andrea and

    Bob Bates. The duties of the reporter are to

    prepare news articles for publication in the

    local newspaper following all chapter meetingsand activities, and serve as chairman of all

    advertising committees for chapter activities

    and projects.

    Historian - Haley Murry, a sophomore who has

    participated in FCCLA for two years, is the daughter of

    Jodi and Jim Murry. It is the duty of the historian to take

    pictures at all chapter activities and create a scrapbook to

    document all aspects of the chapter.
