WHAT'S TD?

Thermal Diffusion - Grow out a very thin Vanadium Carbide fi lm with extremely high hardness on the surface of cold work tool through during V - rich salt bath hardening process.

The hardness of such fi lm can reach 3200-3800Hv. Instead of adhering to the surface of metal, it is grown out from the metal, generate extremely high wear resistance and extremely low adhesivequality.

What happened after TD?

It extends the tool service life greatly (more than 10 times in some cases), with better product quality.

TD应用

什么是TD?

热扩散—将工件置于硼砂熔盐混合物中,通过高温扩

散作用于工件表面形成一层数微米至十微米的硬度极 高的金属碳化物覆层。

覆层的硬度高达3200—3800Hv。TD并不是在金属表面

附着,而是让它从金属里“长”出来。形成了极高的 耐磨性及很低的附着性。

TD后会产生什么效果?

会大大提高工件的使用寿命(有些甚至大于10倍),

而且得到更好的产品质量。

性能大大的提升。

Cr12 is a high-carbon, high-chromium, oil-hardening tool steel that is characterized by a relatively high attainable hardness and numerous, large, chromium-rich alloy carbides in the microstructure. These carbides provide good resistance to wear from sliding contact with other metals and abrasive materials.

9CrWMn is a low alloy oil-hardening cold work steel. It's possible to reach higher hardness(65HRC) from low austenitizing temperature with little size change. 9CrWMn is a general-purpose tool steel that is typically used in applications where alloy steels cannot provide sufficient hardness, strength, and wear resistance.

9CrWMn (AISI O1) can be given standard surface treatments such as hard chrome plating if desired. Nitriding is not generally practical due to a substantial loss of core hardness.

Cr12Mo1V is a high-chromium, high-carbon Ledeburite Steel with high hardenability, good wear resistance and small

size changing when quenching. It is a widely used for cold work die steel with carbide homogeneous distribution and

better toughness compared to Cr12.

RECOMMENDED SURFACE TREATMENT

Cr12Mo1V is the best cold work steel which suitable for TD treatment. TD’s basic principle is putting the parts in a borax bath, formed a coating of V, Nb, Cr, Ti carbide. The coating has an extreme high hardness with great wear resistance and corrosion resistance which can highly improve the die use life. TD treatment process stability, coating quality steady and environmental protection, it has good use effect and value.

RECOMMENDED SURFACE TREATMENTS

Normal heat treatment such as nitriding, inleakage of titanium, hard chromium plating(if). Two times tempering on or above the work temperature before heat treatment. Additionally, TD (Toyota Diffusion Coating Process or Thermal Diffusion) is a good surface treatment way for Cr12Mo1V1. Its basic principle is putting the parts in a borax bath, formed a coating of V, Nb, Cr, Ti carbide. The coating has an extreme high hardness with great wear resistance and corrosion resistance which can highly improve the die use life. TD treatment process stability, coating quality steady and environmental protection, has good use effect and value.

Cr8Mo2SiV is a new improved cold work steel based on Cr12Mo1V, provides greater combination of hardness and toughness after high temperature given by smaller chromium & molybdenum-rich carbides. It is widely used in general and precision cold working tool application.

PRODUCT FEATURES

Few cracking for tool & die made of Cr8Mo2SiV, extend the service life obviously.

High hardenability, machinability and abrasion resistance. Small size change during quenching, small remaining stress after liner cutting, thus restrain cracking and deformation. Machinability and abrasive property are both better than Cr12Mo1V.

RECOMMENDED SURFACE TREATMENTS

Cr8Mo2SiV is very suitable to apply TD process technique. TD (Toyota Diffusion Coating Process or Thermal Diffusion) basic principle is to put the steel into borax bath which added diffusion element, and then will form a carbonization coating of V, Nb, Cr, Ti on the surface. The carbonization has very high hardness, also very high abrasive resistance and good corrosion resistance, extend the service life of mould. TD processing technique has very good stability, high quality for the coating, has no pollution to environment, good use effect and high value for society and economy.

3Cr17NiMo is a new design of plastic mould steel. It has strong corrosion resistance and excellent mirror surface polishability.

PRODUCT FEATURES

Strong corrosion resistance(better than S-136 and 1.2316) Excellent mirror surface polishability. Easy to do heat treatment, size is stable after Q+T pre-hardened. Good thermal fatigue resistance. Good abrasion resistance and toughness, (better than S-136 and 1.2316) easy to weld up.

APPLICATION

Apply for producing plastic mould requires chemical corrosion resistance. Especially suitable for thermoplastic corrosion plastic. Suitable for small scale mould.

DELIVERY CONDITION

Annealing, HB≤230 or Q+T according to client’s requirement

HEAT TREATMENT

Annealing Heating to 780-820℃ at lowest heating speed, heat preservation for 3 hours; cooling with furnace to 600℃; Annealed hardness≤230 HB.

Quenching Quenching at 1020-1050℃, oil cooling or quenched liquid cooling Quenched hardness≥45 HRC

Tempering Tempering immediately after reaching required hardness, heat preservation at least 2 hours, air cooling
