To all AOBUC 2019 participants:

On behalf of the World Flying Disc Federation, I am pleased to welcome all athletes, coaches, staff, supporters, volunteers and spectators to Shirahama, Japan for the WFDF 2019 Asia Oceanic Beach Ultimate Championships. We are excited to have you all here at Shirahama beach, an incredible location for Beach Ultimate. It is especially exciting to see such a gathering of all this Ultimate talent from all over the Asia Oceanic region for this inaugural continental beach championships!WFDF is excited to see over 600 players from 40 teams and 10 countries competing in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed divisions at AOBUC 2019, a tremendous and exciting turnout for an inaugural championships. The main playing fields at Shirahama beach are ready to welcome athletes from all over the world for four days of fierce and spirited competition.This is the first time Shirahama has hosted a WFDF Ultimate Championship and we could not be more grateful to the Tournament Organizing Committee, with a special thanks to the Event Director Yuta Saito and the Japan Flying Disc Association (JFDA), WFDF’s member National Federation and host of AOBUC. Yuta and his team have worked hard and long to ensure this will be a special event for all participants. And, of course, thanks to our partner BULA for their operational and marketing support of the event.This week, the world will be watching the region’s best Beach Ultimate players compete at the highest level.I wish all the players and teams competitive success and I hope that you have an enjoyable tournament.Very truly yours,

　世界フライングディスク連盟（WFDF）を代表して、ここ和歌山県白浜町の素晴らしい白良浜ビーチにて開催する「WFDF2019アジア・オセアニアビーチアルティメット選手権大会」に、各国から選手、指導者、運営者、観戦者、ボランティアなど、様々な携わり方をされる皆様をお迎えできることを、とても喜ばしく思っております。そして、アジア・オセアニア地域から素晴らしい才能を持った皆様が、地域初開催となる公式国際大会のために一堂に集まっているこの現実に、昂ぶる気持ちを抑えきれません！　今大会では、10の国と地域から40チーム、600名以上の選手が出場し、3部門（メン部門 / ウィメン部門 / ミックス部門）が実施されます。この開催規模は、初開催の国際大会としては非常に素晴らしいものです。ここ白浜町の白良浜ビーチは、この4日間に繰り広げられる激しさとフェアプレイを兼ね備えた皆様のビーチアルティメットに向けて、準備が整っています。　今大会は、白浜町にとって初のWFDF主催公式国際大会となり、大会運営委員会のイベントディレクターを務めるYuta 氏と、WFDFの加盟団体であり大会主管を担っている日本フライングディスク協会（JFDA）には深い感謝の意を表します。大会運営委員会のメンバーは、誘致開始時から大会当日までの長期間に渡り、本大会が参加者の方にとって特別なものになるように準備を進めてきました。そして、WFDFのパートナーである国際ビーチアルティメット愛好者協会（BULA）には、大会運営やマーケティングの観点から多大なサポート受けており、併せて感謝の意をお伝えさせていただきます。　　この4日間、世界中の人々が、アジア・オセアニア地域の頂点を決める戦いに注目しています。今大会に出場する全ての選手とチームが、各自のベストを尽くし、素晴らしい大会期間を過ごされることを願っております。

Dear Beach Ultimate Lovers,

Welcome to Shirahama! I am super thrilled to see so many teams, players, and countries here for this championship. It has been exactly 10 years since BULA hosted the first Asian Championships of Beach Ultimate in Boracay. Now, together with the WFDF, the event has grown substantially. We intend to build on this for years to come as it is clear that the sport is starting to take off in the region.

I wish you all the best in your games. Compete at your best level and remember to always adhere to the Spirit of the Game. Be fair-minded in all your calls, always communicate respectfully, and enjoy playing! Winning is a journey, not a goal.

　白浜へようこそ！今大会にこれだけ多くの国と地域から皆様にお集まりいただき、心の中の感動が鳴り止みません。国際ビーチアルティメット愛好者協会（BULA）が、アジア地域で初めて開催したビーチアルティメット大会（フィリピン・ボラカイ島）から、ちょうど10年になります。近年は、世界フライングディスク連盟（WFDF）のとパートナーシップを通じて、ビーチアルティメットは成長を続けています。そして、これからも、アジア・オセアニア地域における更なる発展を目指し、皆様と共に歩みを進めていきたいと考えております。

　参加される選手の皆様が、本大会において最善を尽くされることを願っています。1人１人が最高のプレイで試合に臨みながら、常にスピリット・オブ・ザ・ゲームの精神を忘れずにいてください。そして、全ての場面において客観的な意識を持ち、敬意のある振る舞いを常に心がけながら、プレイする楽しさも忘れないでください。試合での勝利は、目的地ではなく、ビーチアルティメットと共に歩む人生という旅路の途中です。

On behalf of Asia Flying Disc Federation and Japan Flying Disc Association, I sincerely welcome all participants from 10 Asian and Oceanianic Countries/Regions.This tounament is the first Asia and Oceania Championships of BEACH ULTIMATE. All of you are making the new history of BEACH ULTIMATE, one official event of World Flying Disc Federation IOC and IPC recognized. The 1st BEACH ULTIMTE championship was held in Texas state, USA in 1986, 33 years ago. The1st International Tournament was held in Rimini city, Italy in 1989, 30 years ago and since then came to be held regularly. And Association of Beach Ultimate Lovers (BULA) was formed for the further spread in 1999 and grew rapidly before a tounament to exceed 100 in 25 countries was held every year in 2009.Come to hold it under WFDF, the BULA cosponsorship, and, in WFDF, 4th championships (2015 Dubai) and 5th championships that 39 countries 119 teams were held in Royan, France in 2017 by 3rd championships (2011 Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy) to continue in an official recognition event of 11th that is different from the original "Ultimate" playing "BEACH ULTIMATE" in the court of the lawn in 2010 and positioning, 1st championships (2004 Portugal) of "World Beach Ultimate Championships" that hosted by BULA, started, 2nd championships (2007 Brazil). In Japan, 1st championships was held in2000.Near future, Association of National Olympic Committees :Alliance of 206 countries/regions Olympic Committees will host 1st World Beach Games. BEACH ULTIMATE will be appointed as the official sport.This championships is the International Match to decide the 1st Champion of the Asia Oceania BEACH ULTIMATE. I expect the attractive exciting games!!　In closing, I am very grateful to National Government Japan Sports Agency, Japan Tourism Agency, Japanese Olympic Committee, Japan Sport Association, Japan Beach Culture Promotion Association, JWGA and Shirahama Town, Wakayama, Sponcers, Supporters and Volenteers! 　アジア・フライングディスク連盟（AFDF）と日本フライングディスク協会（JFDA）を代表して、アジア・オセアニアの10ヵ国・地域から参加してくださった皆様を心より歓迎いたします。この大会は、アジア・オセアニア選手権大会として開催される最初のビーチアルティメットの大会であり、皆様は IOC・IPC承認競技であるフライングディスクの1種目「ビーチアルティメット」の新たな歴史の1頁を記しておられます。

　ビーチアルティメットの最初のトーナメントは、今から33年前の1986年にアメリカ合衆国テキサス州で行われました。最初の国際大会は30年前の1989年にイタリアのリミニ市で開催され、それ以後定期的に開催されるようになりました。そして、更なる普及をめざして1999年にはビーチアルティメット愛好者協会 (BULA) が結成され、2009年には25ヵ国で100を超す大会が毎年開催されるまでに急成長しました。 世界フライングディスク連盟（WFDF）は、2010年に「ビーチアルティメット」を芝生のコートでプレーする本来の「アルティメット」とは異なる11番目の公認種目と位置づけ、BULA主催でスタートしていた「世界ビーチアルティメット選手権大会」の第1回大会(2004年ポルトガル )、第2回大会 (2007年ブラジル )に続く、第3回大会 (2011年イタリア リニャーノ・サッビアドーロ )からWFDF・BULA共催で開催するようになり、第4回大会(2015年ドバイ)、そして39ヵ国119チームが参加した第5回大会が2017年6月18日 24日フランスのロワイヤンで開催されました。日本では、2000年から国内大会が開催されています。

　今後、206ヵ国・地域のオリンピック委員会の連合組織ANOCが開催を計画している「ワールドビーチゲームス」の正式種目となることが期待されています。

　本大会はフライングディスク競技「ビーチアルティメット」における、アジア・オセアニア地域の頂点を決定する国際大会です。最初のアジア・オセアニアチャンピオンを目指しての熱戦を期待します。なお、試合の模様はインターネットで配信され、後日テレビでも放送される予定です。

　最後になりましたが、本大会を開催するにあたりご後援いただいたスポーツ庁、観光庁、日本オリンピック委員会、日本スポーツ協会、日本ビーチ文化振興協会、日本ワールドゲームズ協会、素晴らしい白砂の会場を提供してくださいました和歌山県白浜町の皆様はじめ関係機関、ご協賛・ご協力を賜りましたすべての関係各位に厚く御礼申し上げまして、ご挨拶とさせて頂きます。

On behalf of the AOBUC2019 Tournament Organizing Committee (TOC), I would like to show our WELCOME and THANK YOU to all the people here in Shirahama for WFDF 2019 Asia Oceanic Beach Ultimate Championships, in association with BULA.

AOBUC2019 is the inaugural beach ultimate event in the Asian Oceanic region. The initial goal, in fact, was make it happen at least. However, thanks to all the beach ultimate lovers, the number of teams and participants is more than twice of our estimate. Also, this is the first ever international event in such a scale to be held in Shirahama. Your cooperation made the remarkable meaning not only for beach ultimate community but also for this region.

We have been preparing for this event with so many people in Japan, especially people in Shirahama. They are sophisticated and professional team for co-operating in sports events. Please appreciate them since we are playing beach ultimate based on their works.

Always, enjoy being here for what we love and being respectful each other. Enjoyment can be made on the effort of everyone. I wish all the people here make your best during this event in various roles.

大会に携わる全ての皆様へ

　大会運営委員会を代表して、WFDF2019アジア・オセアニアビーチアルティメット選手権大会にお集まりいただいた全ての皆様に、歓迎と感謝の意をお伝えさせていただきます。

　本大会は、アジア・オセアニア地域において初となるビーチアルティメット公式国際大会です。全てが手探りの第1回大会として、まずは開催すること自体を目標としていたことも正直な事実でしたが、皆様のご協力により、当初の予想の2倍以上となる40チーム /約700名の参加者による開催となりました。この規模の国際スポーツ競技大会は、白浜町としても初開催とお伺いしております。前例のない大会にも関わらず、出場を決断された皆様の意思は、ビーチアルティメットのみならず、この地域にとっても大きな意味を持つものとなりました。

　また、本大会の準備にあたり、日本各地の方々からの多大なるご協力をいただきました。特に、白浜町の皆様には、大会誘致計画時から開催直前の最終調整まで、多大なるご協力を賜りましたこと、心より御礼申し上げます。

　大会期間中は、私たちが大好きなこのビーチアルティメットを、アジア・オセアニア地域各国の選手と一緒にこの地でプレイできることに思いを馳せるとともに、お互いに敬意を持った振る舞いを心がけていただければと思います。スポーツをする楽しさは、それを築こうとする関係者全員の努力によって生まれるものです。本大会に様々な役割で携わる全ての方が、大会期間中にベストを尽くされることを願っています。

ABOUT SPIRIT OF THE GAMEUltimate relies upon a Spirit of the Game that places the responsibility for fairplay on every player. Spirit of the Game (SOTG) is the mindful behaviorpracticed by players prior to, during and after a game of ultimate. Itencompasses attitudes and skills such as good knowledge and application ofthe rules, fair-mindedness, safe play and spatial awareness, clear and calmcommunication, and a positive and respectful attitude towards teammates,fans, and opponents, in a mutual effort to protect the basic joy of play.

We strongly believe that Spirit of the Game helps people to develop skills inpolite, calm and respectful communication even in difficult situations, and tomake friends all over the world despite ethnic, national or religious differences.Spirit of the Game promotes understanding and peace in our sport, and wehope that through each player, that influence can spread beyond the field andmake real changes in the outside world.

At AOBUC, every team in every division has chosen a Spirit Captain. It is thisplayer’s responsibility to work with their team and all opposition teams toensure that the highest standard of the Spirit of the Game is maintainedthroughout the competition (both on and off the field).

A Spirit scoring system has been developed to evaluate the other teamimmediately after each game. With all players involved and led by the SpiritCaptain, each team fills in a Spirit scoresheet. Using guidelines and examplesfound in the Spirit scoring examples document, each team can provide a moreconsistent score for the other teams. The Spirit scoring system therefore servesas an educational tool where teams can learn how to improve based onstandardized feedback.

To celebrate Spirit of the Game, an award is presented to the team in eachdivision with the highest total Spirit score. Winning this award is held in thehighest regard and all teams strive to achieve this.

Good luck to all athletes. Your physical and mental abilities represent thepinnacle of our sport in your age group. You have the opportunity todemonstrate the highest values of sports competition through the Spirit of theGame. Fans and spectators, you can look forward to some incredible action andeven more incredible displays of Spirit throughout the Championships.

The AOBUC2019 volunteer workforce comprises of about 100 volunteers coming from 9 countries. They have devoted a huge amount of effort and time into making AOBUC2019 a fun, safe and successful event. Volunteers are a key part of our event planning and without them JFDA would not be able to deliver the AOBUC2019.

We can assure you that all of our volunteers will offer excellent customer service and help to create fantastic memories for everyone attending the event as either a participant or spectator, further enhancing the reputation of Ultimate as a great sport.It simply wouldn’t be possible to do this without the help of everyone who has volunteered, and WFDF and WFDF are extremely grateful to all of them.

GeneralThe World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) requires ALL athletes and coaches/medical staff competing in the WFDF 2019 Asia Oceanic Beach Ultimate Championships, in association with BULA (AOBUC) in Japan to complete the Real Winner education course prior to the event.

LearningReal Winner is an internet‐based tool which WFDF has used for the past several years. This is an educational exercise and test to enhance the knowledge of Anti‐Doping matters for elite athletes and their support personnel concerning subjects such as doping control procedures, the WADA Prohibited List, athletes’ whereabouts reporting and Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE). VENUE – SHIRARAHAMA BEACHmedia

GeneralShirarahama Beach is the public Beach which is managed by Shirahama town.The beach is composed of Quartz Sand including 90% Silica Sand from moved from Perth, Australia and finest is appropriate for sports. Please always try to keep the beach as clean as possible in order for your safety play and environmental issues. Also, keep in mind that you need to be respectful for non beach ultimate people. This beach is not ours, but everyone’s.

TransportationSince only 2-3 minutes walk is necessary from tournament hotels to the beach, NO shuttle buses are planned for AOBUC2019.

Access to the beachDespite there is no access limitation to enter the beach, please always take your accreditation card in order to show that you are the participant of AOBUC2019. It is designated for participants, staff and volunteers only.

No SmokingDuring AOBUC2019, the Shirarahama Beach is designed to be “smoke-free” area in order to protect your rights of health.

Enter the seaThe sea is open to enter. However, please keep in mind that you need to enter or swim on your own responsibility. You all must be so tired after playing beach ultimate, so that pay attention to your health condition and always be safe.

Lost & FoundThe lost and found service is located at the TOC tent. Any lost or found items should be reported to a volunteer or delivered to this location. If you have lost an item please notify the volunteers at the TOC tent, where we will try our best to get it back to you.

Rubbish & TrashThere are some number of bins across the site. They are in pairs: General Waste and Mixed Recycling. The recycling bins are for cans and bottoles. Bins are located along the beach. Teams are requested to clean up after their games and to leave the fields in a tidy manner. Spectators are responsible for their own rubbish and should use the bins provided.

First AidThe First Aid is located near the TOC tent. It will provide assessment and treatment for injuries and illness. It will be staffed by a combination of doctors, physiotherapists, and first aiders. The medical team is there to provide help with new injuries sustained during the event only. All fields of play will have score/timekeepers who will have radio access to contact the medical team for help. For any medical help when off site, please call 119 for emergency help.

ParkingThere are some parking beside the beach. However, if you stay near the beach, walking to the beach is recommended. Walking beside the beach in the morning will make you refreshed.

The “KATE’S FRIENDS”, which is manufactured by T-kate International (Chigasaki, Kanagawa pref.), is chosen as the players gift for WFDF 2019 Asia Oceanic Beach Ultimate Championships.

T-kate International is a small company located in Chigasaki, Kanagawa pref. They are working mainly in the manufacture of custom-made wetsuits.

KATE’S FRIENDS is made from the re-used garbage that is produced during the production of wetsuits. Since the the fabric of wetsuit is made from synthetic rubber, the garbage must be treated as Industrial waste. Regarding the wetsuits garbage as the resource and producing kawaii/cute characters, they are trying to return the favor to the mother sea.
