ADB-PRC Partnership in Global Climate Challenges
December 1,2015（Tuesday）The event will introduce the great efforts by China in addressing climate change as well as the achievements and experience of cooperation between China and ADB in coping with climate change. A publication through the joint study of NDRC and ADB on CCS Technology Roadmap will be presented followed by an in-depth discussion about the challenges and opportunities faced by China for achieving earlier peaking of GHG emissions. Support and assistance required by international organizations in this process shall also be discussed. This event is organized and hosted by the Climate Change Department of NDRC and ADB.

自 2013年以来，为积极探索城镇化和工业化低碳发展新道路，中国先后在 55

Theme: from political commitment to action

BackgroundSouth-South cooperation is widely recognized as a new important dimension of the global response to climate change, complementing the traditional North-South cooperation. This was the key message emerging from the first South-South Cooperation on Climate Change (SSCCC) Forum, held in Lima last year at the margins of COP20. In recent years, China has demonstrated a strong political will to promote SSCCC. In September 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China will make available 3.1 billion US dollars for setting up a new ‘China South-South Climate Fund’, to support low carbon and resilient development in the global South. Whilst the world is highly expecting at COP21 a universal agreement capable of responding to climate change, it is fundamental to reflect on the role of South-South cooperation in its implementation. To this end, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will co-sponsor the second edition of the SSCCC Forum at COP21 in Paris.Agenda** Subject to change. China’s Low-Carbon Transition High-level Workshop

The low-carbon development has become an inevitable choice for addressing climate change and all countries in the world are actively exploring how to achieve the low carbon transition of economic and social development. This high-level workshop aims to invite the international and national experts in low-carbon related areas to share their views on global low-carbon transition and have a thorough discussion on how to promote the low-carbon transition in China. The Department of Climate Change at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) jointly organizes this workshop.

The Climate Change vulnerability of rural community is relatively high, which influences the effects of poverty alleviation directly. International attention on this issue is urgently required. Implementing Paris Agreement: innovation of development
