Theme Interior Essence “Chic&Now” – The Really Important Things are here-

J T E X T R E N D S s e l e c t e d b y N I F + T D ADirected by TDA President Fumio Konno, NIF and TDA teamed up and proposed Japanese lifestyle trends for the first time as JAPANTEX, sending Japanese trends to Asia and the world.

Having analyzed past and current trends in Japan and Europe, the team created a group of unique base colors consisting of accent colors and neutral colors. They then set 6 design tastes from the base colors: Simple Modern, Soft Casual Modern, Casual Modern, Folklore Modern, Natural Elegance Modern, and Retro Natural Modern. Not only trends of textile colors, the team also focused on the trends of comprehensive colors of the space including floor materi-als, furniture and everyday sundries, therefore, the lifestyle trends. In the exhibition, they displayed 2 opposite images, Casual Modern and Natural Elegance Modern, from the 6 design tastes.

Ichizo Yoshikawa, chairman of the Nippon Interior Fabrics Association, delivered an open-ing address. This was followed by an address by Masami Nakamura, chairman of the board of the Japan Management Association; a congratulatory address by Parliamentary Vice-minister Tsuyoshi Hoshino; an explanation of the show by Takeshi Nishida, Chairman of the Executive Committee of JAPANTEX; and remarks by Princess Takamado. The three days of the exhibition were officially initiated by a tape-cutting by Princess Takamado. A joint JH and BS reception began in the reception hall at 17:30 on the same day.

In the presence of Her Imperial Highness, Princess Takamado, and Tsuyoshi Hoshino, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry, the opening ceremony got under way, on an especially constructed stage, at 9:00 a.m. on November 18 (Wednesday), 2015.

In this contest, qualified widow-décor planners and such other professionals as interior coordinators selected and voted for the exhibited products they would recommend to clients. The three winners—gold, silver, and bronze—were announced on the exhibition final day. The gold prize went to Kawashima Selkon Textiles Co., Ltd for its Sumiko Honda. The silver prize went to Toso Co., Ltd. for its Picture Rail S-1, and the bronze award went to Suminoe Textile Co., Ltd. for its Star Wars, as well as Sangetsu Co., Ltd. for its Sangetsu Curtain AC. JAPANTEX Deputy Secretary General Michiharu Tanaka presented each winner with a commendation shield. A total of 78 products and 32 firms entered the competition.

The digital printing technology for wall paper and textile is attracting rising attention. In this area, digital printing equipment manufacturers and sign and display relating companies exhibited their latest technologies. An advisor in this f ield, Mr.Yoji Honda, also held seminars.

DECOON exhibited fabrics and wall paper brands for overseas high-end customers. This was the second time the event was held following its topical debut in June 2015. Each brand also held mini seminars, offering a number of highlights.
