Total Duration 10:00 - 19:00 (including dinner in Falkirk Town Centre)

10:00 Arrive at the Falkirk Wheel either by car or by public transport (from Camelon Station to the Wheel is roughly a 15 minute cycle, mainly along the canal). Park in the free parking area or rent a bike from Outdoor Trax (located at the Wheel). Enter the Falkirk Wheel visitor centre and see the unique and spectacular engineering marvel. Enjoy a 50 minute boat trip at 10.30 (Adult £8.95, Children £4.95 - remember to pre-book). Option to explore the Roman Fort and Antonine Wall remains at nearby Roughcastle. Depart for Callendar House for 12.15. *Special offer available

13:00 Arrive at Callendar House. Explore the park and Cycle the path that circumnavigates the pond. Enjoy lunch in the Tearoom and look for some special gifts in the shop. Wander through the interior of the house which tells stories spanning 2000 years of history. The house provides an excellent vantage point for the Antonine Wall. Depart for the Helix at 14.15. *Special offer available

15:00 Cycle into Helix South and up to Helix Park - opening on Helix Day - past The Kelpies and explore the woodlands of Helix North. Continue towards the Town Centre on the HArTT Cycle Route and along the pathways towards the A9.

16:30 Divert from HArTT Cycle Route along Camelon Road and dismount for the Town Centre at West Bridge Street at 16:30. Explore the unique Town Centre with the Falkirk Steeple, which dates from 1814, the famous Faw Kirk and a variety of restaurants, shops and cafes for an early dinner. Return to The Wheel to return your bike, collect your vehicle or alternatively take a train from Falkirk Grahamston Train Station. *Special offer available

09:00 Arrive at Muiravonside Country Park. Call in at the visitor centre and enjoy the numerous nature trails and play areas throughout the Park. If with children, enjoy exploring the park generally. If adults only or with older children capable of walking 8 miles, enjoy the River Avon Heritage Trail (guided by the Countryside Ranger or independently). Enjoy views of the exquisite famous aqueduct and see the relics of bygone industry and farming. Depart for Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway at 13:00. Drive past the spectacular Grangemouth refinery and petrochemicals facility and the RAF Grangemouth Spitfire Memorial on Bo’ness Road.

13:20 Arrive at Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway. Tickets for the 14.05 Steam Train, can be pre booked (Adult £9, Child £5 and for an additional £2 include the Museum). Enjoy lunch from the Station Buffet, which can be taken on board. Train returns at 15.13. Depart for the Museum, which can be accessed over the metal footbridge in the car park or via the wheelchair/pushchair friendly route next to the Model Railway at Bo’ness Station. *Special offer available

15:20 Arrive at the Museum of Scottish Railways, and discover how railways transformed the lives of our ancestors. It boasts three large buildings of historic locomotives, carriages and wagons, as well as a railway themed activity area for children. Depart for Blackness Castle at 16.10. 10:00 Arrive at the Bridgeness Slab, a Roman legionary distance marker stone was found in Bo’ness in 1868. One of the best examples of its kind is displayed at the National Museum of Scotland and a replica has been installed in Bo’ness. Depart Bridgeness Slab and stop off at the Hippodrome, Scotland’s oldest picture house, opened in 1912. If visiting on a Saturday, you can explore inside between 10.15 and 11.00. 11:00 Arrive at Kinneil Museum and Estate. The estate is of impressive historical significance and do not miss the ‘2000 Years of History’ exhibition which tells the story of the estate from Roman times to present day.
