Operating principle
Two ultrasonic transducers, which are installed under an angle to the flow axis, operate alternately as a transmitter and receiver. The signals transmitted through the gas ac-celerate in the direction of flow and decelerate against the direction of flow. The resulting difference in propagation times is used to determine the mean gas velocity. The cross-sectional area yields the volumetric flow during oper-ation. The measurement result is not affected by the pres-sure, temperature, or gas composition. To increase the ac-curacy of the measurement, the gas velocity is measured with multiple paths.
FLoWSic600For custody transferand Process applications
Many years of experience and conti-nuous improvement of the measuring technique have led to a new generati-on of ultrasonic gas flow meters – the FLOWSIC600. Already the visual im-pression shows the compact design with consealed cabling system which provides a trouble-free and low-main-tenance use under the harsh industri-al conditiones.
The FLOWSIC600 can be equipped with 1, 2 or 4 measuring paths that offers the usage from custody transfer applications up to measurements with less precision requirements. The stan-dard installation length of 3D allows to replace existing turbine meters without pipe readjustments. Because adjustable impulse outputs or Mod-bus connections are available, in-stalled flow computers can be used furthermore.

Direct path layout – no reflection
The FLOWSIC 600 is designed as a direct path ultrasonic meter. Because the signals are not reflected inside the measuring pipe, contamination or changes in wall roughness do not affect the measurement characteristics or longterm stability of the measuring system. In addition, the layout of the measuring paths improves the signal-to-noise ratio. This makes the FLOWSIC600 substantially less sensitive to control valve noise.
redundancy
The FLOWSIC 600 can easily be extended to a redundant system. This can be achieved by adding a second electronics and associated transducers in the free part of the X-shaped measuring section. As a result, the main and the additional meter form a redundant system which is integrated in one meter body.
Extraction tool
Using this tool, the ultrasonic transducer can be exchanged under operational pressure. The FLOWSIC600 does not need to be switched off, and provides data furthermore.
mEPaFLoW600 software
The MEPAFLOW600 software as an important componentof the measuring system is the universal tool for parameterizationand diagnosis of the FLOWSIC600. It records, managesand saves all data provided by the electronics. On this basis, poten-tial equipment problems can be identified easily.
