หลักการบันทึกคำวินิจฉัยกระดูกหัก

1. ระบุชิ้นกระดูก

เพื่อให้รหัสลำดับที่ 1 และ 2

2. ระบุตำแหน่งของชิ้นกระดูก โดยเฉพาะ long bone

เพื่อให้รหัสลำดับที่ 3

3. ระบุว่าเป็นกระดูกหักแบบเปิด (open fracture)

เพื่อให้รหัสลำดับที่ 4 [0 = closed fracture, 1 = open fracture]

4. อาจระบุเป็นชื่อเฉพาะทางการแพทย์ Blow-out fracture, Colles' fracture, Flail chest, Smith’s fracture
