    Thank you or taking a moment to learn more about Friends and Returned Peace

    Corps Volunteers o Guyana (FROG). Founded in 2007, FROG is a non-prot,service based organization dedicated to supporting education, health, social,

    economic, and environmental programs in Guyana through a network o RPCVs,

    Guyanese nationals, Guyanese-Americans, and all others concerned and interested

    in the Guyanese Community.

    In this packet you will nd inormation about FROG that will help explain what we

    do, who we are and how we work. This includes board member biographies, recent

    Fr & RPCV of G (FROG) was ounded with the intention o helping

    Returned Peace Corps Volunteers rom Guyana keep in touch with each other as

    well as the communities they we served in the Peace Corps. And to compliment the

    networking aspect o the organization, we also want to continue serving the country

    we lived in and grew to love.

    In the spirit o the Peace Corps, FROG decided to continue our past work by undingcurrent volunteer projects throughout Guyana. FROG strives to enrich current

    volunteer experiences by helping these young men and women connect with the

    people and the communities we nurtured as volunteers.

    Since the launch o FROG in 2007, our organization has grown to include hundreds

    o peoplewith Guyanese, returned volunteers and riends o both communities

    amongst our ranks.

    We have had the opportunity to und a handul o projects, have held two undraisers

    in Richmond Hill, New York and continue to develop our presence in the Guyanesecommunity. As our organization grows and our numbers swell, we hope to have an

    even greater impact on the development o Guyana and the lives o the people the

    country enriches.

    Mike GeuRinkPRESIdEnT

    Mr. Geurink is originally rom Western Wisconsin and his biggest aspiration is to

    continue working in developing countries overseas. He graduated rom University o

    Wisconsin-La Crosse in Recreation Management, and completed his internship at

    Wilderness Inquiry where he guided canoe trips or people with all abilities in the state

    o Maine. Ater leading trips in Maine he applied to the Peace Corps and accepted an

    invitation to serve in Guyana. There Mr. Geurink was a Physical Education instructor

    or children with developmental disabilities and the hearing impaired. His secondary

    projects included youth leadership camps or kids, an HIV/AIDS workshop ocusing

    on persons with disabilities, a resource center or people with disabilities, and editor

    o the Peace Corps Guyana quarterly magazine.

    Mr. Geurink is a Project Associate on the MEASURE Evaluation Project with John

    Snow, Inc. JSIs goal is to improve the health o individuals and communities

    throughout the world. JSI applies practical and innovative solutions in management,

    research, education, inormation and training. The MEASURE Project specically

    applies to Monitoring and Evaluation in developing countries.

    Mr. Geurink currently resides in Washington, DC and dedicates his spare time to

    FROG. He continues to travel with JSI but spends most o his time within the District

    o Columbia.

    Scott Stadum graduated rom Bowling Green State University in 2001 with a B.S. in

    Visual Communications Technology. Ater graduation, Mr. Stadum moved rom Ohio

    to Minnesota, living briefy outside o Minneapolis or two years. At that time Mr.

    Stadum helped job train the mentally impaired or the state o Minnesota. Ater two

    years in Minnesota, he went on to join the Peace Corps and served in Guyana rom

    2003 to 2005. While in Guyana, Mr. Stadum was an IT volunteer with the WorldWildlie Fund, promoting environmental and other causes through collaborations with

    organizations such as UN Volunteers, U.S.AID, The Wishbone Project/Smile Train,

    Iwokrama, and the Guyana Marine Turtle Conservation Society. Post-Peace Corps,

    Mr. Stadum moved to Washington, DC and worked or two years with the FAA and

    the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In January 2008, Mr. Stadum moved to

    Buenos Aires, Argentina to join Idealist.org and works as a new media and user

    experience analyst or the organization.

    anita kattakuzhy

    Ms. Kattakuzhy graduated rom Towson University with a BS in Elementary Educationand continued her work with youth during her Peace Corps service in Guyana rom

    2004 to 2006. There she worked in three Maternal and Child Health Clinics and

    helped to establish a camp or secondary students promoting leadership, healthy

    liestyles, and education. Following her service, Ms. Kattakuzhy attended the School o

    Oriental and Arican Studies, University o London or a Masters program in Social

    Anthropology, Migration and Diaspora Studies. Since her return to the US in 2007,

    Ms. Kattakuzhy has been working with Asian American LEAD, a youth development

    organization in Columbia Heights, Washington DC and Silver Spring, MD.

    RPCVS Open Grassroots Development Organization with Fundraiser

    QUEENS, NY The ormal launch o Friends & RPCVs o Guyana (http://guyrog.org) will be held on

    Friday, July 13th at 7:00 pm to Midnight. The undraiser will be hosted at Liberty Express Restaurant

    & Bar, 120-12 Liberty Ave, South Richmond Hill, Queens, NY. A rafe will be held during the event,

    which will include prizes with all proceeds going to the organization. The event will be eaturing DJ

    Sparber.

    Earnings rom the event will help the organization und projects in Guyana through groups such as

    Peace Corps, volunteer agencies, Guyanese non-prots, and other organizations working towards

    development in Guyana. At this time FROG depends entirely on unding rom events such as this

    one, and other grassroots sources.

    As a majority o Returned Peace Corps Volunteers will tell you, the desire to continue working

    towards the development o those in need remains strong long ater their service is complete, says

    FROG Chairman Timothy Delaney, RPCV Guyana 2003-2006. This desire can especially be seen

    in the many men and women who had the opportunity to live and work in Guyana through Peace

    Corps.

    FROG was created to support community driven projects in Guyana that will bring lasting solutions

    to the needs o those communities. The organization is a grassroots development organization and

    will be working with groups in Guyana in such areas as health, education, IT, business, agriculture

    and the environment to urther development.

    FROG aims to give additional assistance to communities in Guyana which demonstrate that they

    have taken an initiative to address their greatest needs, adds Delaney.

    FROG strives to meet the needs o the Guyanese community through small project assistance.

    The organization is a non-prot that osters the revitalization o the Guyanese community through

    nancial and programmatic assistance.

    RETURNED PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS GIVING BACK TO GUYANA

    RPCVs celebrate Guyana with Fundraiser

    QUEENS, NY The 2nd Annual Friends & RPCVs o Guyana Fundraiser, (http://guyrog.org) will be

    held on Friday, July 18th at 8:00 pm to Midnight. The undraiser will be hosted at Liberty Express

    Restaurant & Bar, 120-12 Liberty Ave, South Richmond Hill, Queens, NY. A rafe will be held during

    the event, which will include prizes with all proceeds going to the organization. The event will be

    eaturing reggae, soca and chutney music rom DJ Sparber.

    Friends and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers o Guyana (FROG) was created in 2007 as a non-

    prot organization that connected ormer RPCVs with each other, with the greater development

    community and with new opportunities. To date, over 470 Volunteers have assisted in the areas o

    health, education, community development and inormation technology in the small South American
