Mission Statement: Guided by the power of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church will utilize our time, talent, and treasure through the roles of Priest, Prophet, and King to spread the Good News throughout our community and the world.

Centennial News

Mother Teresa Visits Lafayette - One of the most memorable events of the 100 years of the Diocese of Lafayette was certainly the visit Acadiana received from a Saint. Mother Teresa, who founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, came to Lafayette in July 1986 to establish a chapter of her order here in Lafayette. Mother Teresa was a longtime friend of Fr. Joseph

Brennan, and during her visit she prayed at St. Genevieve Church and spoke to the people of Acadiana in a packed Cajundome on July 10, 1986. The Missionaries of Charity continue to witness to the Gospel in Acadiana with four religious sisters serving in Lafayette today.

National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministries – in this Centennial Year, the Diocese of Lafayette is happy to host a national Marriage and Family Conference – July 15-17 at the Cajundome Convention Center. Please pray for the holiness of marriage and family and the success of this conference. For information on the conference and to register, visit, www.nacflm.org

August 15 – get your boat and join the procession - Fete Dieu de Vermilion – our Eucharistic Adoration will be on the Vermilion River this year beginning in Abbeville at St. Mary Magdalen with a Mass in French at 8am. The river procession will begin after with a Rosary and Benediction in Milton @11;35 @Wawees, then a Rosary and Benediction at River Ranch @1:40 @Rufinno’s, then a foot procession @ 3:45pm from Beaver Park to Cathedral up University St. to the Cathedral – Vespers at 5pm and Mass at 5:30 with Bishop Deshotel. Having 121 Church Parishes in our Diocese we would like to have at least 1 boat from each parish. To register, please visit www.fetedieuduteche.org or call 337-394-6550. This is an extraordinary event and we ask that you please consider being a part of the 121 boats.

ANNULMENT PROCESS WORKSHOP

July 24, 2018, the Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Lafayette, Msgr. Robie Robichaux, will be presenting workshops on Declaration of Nullity and what is needed to begin the process. Two workshop times are offered: 10:00 am – noon, or 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at the Diocesan offices, Immaculata Center, 1408 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA. All are invited to attend. Prior to attending one of the sessions, please register by calling 261-5623, or via email to [email protected]. There is no charge for this workshop.

Our Lady Rosa Mystica

worship, confession and Mass here at Sacred Heart at 7:00pm with registration

starting at 6:00pm.

On Saturday, July 14 there will be a conference in her honor beginning with a

9:00am Mass. The day will end at 3:00pm. Lunch will be provided. Fr. Mark Miley

and Fr. Keith Landry will be the celebrants. Registration forms with all the

Stewardship Moment Today’s Gospel reveals Jesus as being amazed that the people in his hometown of Nazareth do not accept his teaching and ministry; he is taken aback by their lack of faith (Mk 6:6). Good stewards recognize and participate in Christ’s teaching, reconciling and healing presence in their community. Are we good stewards of our family of faith? Do we value and support the ministries that take place in Christ’s name? Are we attentive to the movement of the Holy Spirit in our parish and encourage those who work to enhance our life of faith?
