after the nuclear disaster. Why is it important? Because governments in addition to consider

external risks they have to identify what are the potential risks inside the country. After the

earthquake and the tsunami occurred in Japan, several consequences had happened, especially for

the food security and health of people who live near of the main affected area. After three yearsof the Fukushima nuclear disaster are the negative effects in human life proved?

The Fukushima disaster consist according to the European Organization for Nuclear Research in

the released of radioactive isotopes from the nuclear plant that is mixed in the particles of the

water in the ocean. The first problem identified by this organization is the several problems of

changes in the genetically chain of animals that were near the water next to the plant. According

to the CERN is not possible to talk about mutants but definitely the high levels of radiation affects

animals that are eaten by humans. Japanese government is trying to stop the exposition of

radiation giving its population iodin pills

People in the area was affected have slightly higher risk of developing certain types of concerns.

The World Health Organization released a report that estimates an increase of risk of specific

cancers subsets of population inside the Fukushima Plant. According to that report, the risk to

suffered thyroid cancer has increased in 1.25% and leukemia in a 7% for people exposed to direct

radiation. The amount of people who was exposed to radiation is not determined yet, but there

are some studies that said the radiation could affect the water, and the animals of the whole

Pacific Ocean, making several damage in the life of people of America too.

According to the report of the ministry of health, labor and welfare of Japan agricultural products

were detected with high levels of radioactivity. The radioactivity can create in a midterm crisis in

the health system of Japan. In addition, it would generate high level of expenses of the Japanese

GDP in services and product related with health. One year after the disaster are detected products

like milk, and some leafy vegetables not capable to the human or animal consumption. It is

potentially dangerous if there are not exhaustive controls of the quality of products.

The Fukushima disaster is considered the second major nuclear disaster just after Chernobyl,

according to the CERN there are several proves that animals in the ocean were affected by the

isotopes released, at the same time the World Health Organization, argues they had proved that

the risk to suffer cancer has considerably increased by the radiation exposition. Even the Japanese

government have accepted the problem, making declaration of avoiding the consumption of some

products. But there are some people who try to said that nuclear energy has only good thing for

the development of countries but they do not want to accept the potential risks in human life that

it cause.
