FUTURE LEADERS
FIDIC
On the eve of its new century...
FIDIC in the future
FIDIC - SITUATION
FIDIC defines itself as an international
federation, representing globally the
consulting industry
With the mission to: “promote business
interests”.
FIDIC - OBJECTIVES
Develop business methodsRepresent internationallyPromote ethicsEnsure sustainabilityENHANCE IMAGE
FIDIC OBJECTIVES -YPs PERCEPTIONS
FIDIC Objective YPs perceptions
Develop business methods Acceptable, more actions appreciated
Represent internationally Can do it better
Promote ethics BIMS / FIMS is an excellent reference
Ensure sustainabilityAcceptable, but needs more “BITE TO
THE BARK”
ENHANCE IMAGE Not satisfactory
FIDIC -REPRESENT INTERNATIONALLY
Not all young professionals were aware of FIDIC in their home countries. We propose:• Introducing FIDIC in general engineering courses.• Getting support from reputable international bodies,
WB, UN, … • Use the potential of new technology for improved
communication and organization. (Start with a new FIDIC website!)
FIDIC - DEVELOP BUSINESS METHODS
YPs appreciate the existing methods but believe they can
be improved by considering future demands for business
methods. FIDIC must ‘stay ahead’ of the industry.
YPs also propose that FIDIC increases the awareness of
its existing new business tools to professionals around the
world.
FIDIC - PROMOTE ETHICS
Provide clear and practical examples in BIMS / FIMS
FIDIC - ENSURE SUSTAINABILITY
Public Education
Government Enforcement
FIDIC - ENHANCE IMAGE
Containing the YPs greatest expectations Requirement: being recognized as the global representative
of the consulting engineering industry
Proposed actions by YPs:• Protect the title of engineer• Define the status of engineering in legislation of all
countries• Act as a trade union to improve recognition and working
conditions for engineers
• Improve the reputation of engineers
Such as highlighting the role of engineers in:Inventing high-tech surgical equipment to enable physicians to make successful surgeries (safety & health);Improved transportation (trains through the Swiss Alps);Better and more efficient agriculture;Improved communication tools (cell phones, internet, …)More pleasant entertainment, (i.e. movies, internet, fun parks, …)
FIDIC - ENHANCE IMAGE (cont.)
By enhancing the image of engineers and the consulting industry, we will hope that ENGINEERINGis the FIRST choice of our genius youth for education.
YPs are here to work with you on this exciting issue!
