HONG KONG DERMATOLOGY SYMPOSIUM 2017 Scientific Program (22 Oct, 2017 Sun)
Welcome Message This Symposium serves to bring together academicians and spe-cialists of different subspecialties who all share a common interest in skin and sexually transmitted diseases.
Over the years, our function has gained recognition and popularity among the medical field. It is now a major annual event in the local community. Each year, the symposium attracts well over 300 participants.
This year, we are pleased to welcome our overseas speakers Prof. Chung Wen Hung from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taipei and Prof. Eric Lan from Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung who will speak on ‘The role of laboratory investigations in SCAR man-agement’ and ‘Effect and interaction of UVB and environmental heat on epidermal keratinocytes: Implications on photocarcino-genesis’ respectively. Besides, Dr. Ong Cheng Leng from Malaysia will share with us on the various pitfalls facing dermatologists at large. Locally we have Prof. Martin Wong from the School of Public Health CUHK, enlightening us on ‘Skin problems of return travel-lers’; Dr. Tong KC Ng, microbiologist, to talk on ‘Emerging infec-tious diseases with cutaneous manifestation’; Dr. Angeline OS Lo, hepatologist, to share with us ‘Drug induced liver toxicity’. From our local dermatologists community, we have Dr. Yeung Kwok Hung from the Social Hygiene Service, who will elaborate to us ‘The management of related dermatoses in venous insufficiency’; Dr. Mimi Chang, from the Prince of Wales Hospital, talking on ‘Scarring alopecia made easier’; Dr. Carrie KL Yuen, private derma-tologist, will highlight to us on ‘Non-cosmetic dermatologic use of Botulinum neurotoxin” and Dr. Luk Nai Ming will clarify to us ‘Climate change and the skin’. Last but not the least, we have Dr. Marian Wong from the The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to explain to us her study on ‘Parents’ concerns in managing patients with Atopic Dermatitis at home’.
At the luncheon symposium, we have invited Dr. Chan Yung, pri-vate dermatologist, to give us his view on ‘Psoriasis comorbidity and biologics’. On the day before the main symposium, we have also organized a mini-symposium on Pigmentary Disorders, explor-ing the various aspects of this important skin problem which in-cludes genetics, psychosocial aspects, medical treatment, surgical as well as laser treatment etc.
I believe you will find the above topics both relevant and practical and I am certain that you can make use of the knowledge learned to better manage your patients.
I welcome you all to our Symposium!
