Main Project Goals

Minor Project Goals

To utilize and benefit from Window 10 technology for

improved deployment efficiency (applications)

To build a standard IT workplace platform, built on Windows 10 operating

system

To prepare efficient & cost-saving processes for

implementation/ deployment (new IT workplace platform)

To prepare platform to empower our users and

move them from ‘consumers’ to ‘owners’

• Make sure you are running CB of SCCM• Including hotfixes etc.

• Move from BIOS to UEFI• Make sure you upgrade the firmware

• Test applications• Not as bad as going from XP to Windows 7 but still some will break

• Invest in PSADT for packaging and get rid of all the old scripts

• Test hardware models• Also upgrade drivers if available

General Recommendations

• Consider what new security features to implement• Windows Hello, Credentials Guard etc.

• Clean up your GPOs• Preferably start over

• Rethink your “build a reference image” strategy• Servicing landscape is changing a lot

• Make sure to test deployment of Windows 10 upgrades• AntiVirus applications can be trouble

• Update drivers during the process

• Language packs needs special care

General Recommendations

• ADK 1511 is not your best friend• Upgrade to 1607 ADK for a better friendship

• Custom driver installation is quicker than the built-in method

• Forget about deploying upgrades thru WSUS/SUP• Use a good ol’ task sequence to keep in control of the process

• Complex task sequences equals simple deployments• And happy customers
