•A blog is essentially a website which you can update yourself.

•Blogs – short for weblogs – were started online diaries.

•In the past three years in Australia, blogging has exploded.

The Dashboard is the home page of your website’s control room (or back end).  It’s from here that you can alter the look of your blog; write a post or write a page.

Themes.  A WordPress theme is a template of how your blog can look.  There are 100s to choose from in this free format and you don’t have to stick with what you first choose.

Pages and posts

WordPress blogs offer two menu systems:• Pages• Categories

Pages are like the static pages of your blog, for example your ABOUT page

Categories are more dynamic. You can have as many categories as you like within your topic. For example, your blog’s niche is finance. two of your categories might be: personal finance and budgeting tips.

Your task! Time: 30 minutes

You are going to write ONE short blog post.

TOPIC: A Day Well Spent

• No word limit• Think of your style - your voice• Write from the first person – using the word “I”• How would you describe the new brand to a friend over a coffee, a glass of wine or a beer? • Think of that “chat” – write the words from that chat
