rectorDr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management & Research is extremely

pleased to welcome its new director Dr. Rakesh Premi. He was previously

serving as the 'Campus Director' of Leeds Metropolitan University, UK's Indian

campus 'Leeds Met India', Bhopal and also a 'visiting faculty' to Indian Institute

of Management, Shillong. He holds a 'Doctorate' degree in the area of

Marketing along with one Masters in Business Administration and two

Bachelors degree in Law and Science each. He brings with him a wide range of

academic and industry experience of 30 years, which includes approximately

15 years of successfully teaching to postgraduate students of management at

the university level and managing academic institutions in the field of business

management in various capacities. His academic and industry exposure has

developed into a unique delivery to global students market. Prof. Rakesh Premi

is recognised as a mentor who has always been student centric in providing

innovative and engaging teaching and at the same time being pragmatic in

delivering skills and knowledge required by the industry. He is responsible for

leading and training nearly twenty top companies of India in field of 'Time

Management' and 'Branding'. The list includes names like Birla Corporation

Ltd., Parle Products, The Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills Ltd., Shree

Cement Ltd., Clarks group of Hotels and many more. Prof. Rakesh Premi also

trained officers from some government organisations like 'Rajasthan Police',

NABARD and LIC of India. His recent research interests are in the area of

'marketing' and over a dozen research papers have been published in the

reputed journals. He has also presented his research work in international

conferences and been a key-note speaker in many. He has co-authored one

edited book titled 'Management Perspectives'.

We are delighted that Dr. Premi is now the part of GHS-IMR and all the

members of GHS-IMR greatly look forward to work under his guidance.

Convocation of Seventeenth Batch - PGDM4th May2013

The 17th Convocation ceremony of Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania Institute highlighted the future plans. 90 students qualified for the diploma this

GHS-IMR organized the Orientation program for its 18th batch

PGDM (second year) students. The program began with the

ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mr. Yashasvi Yadav, IPS,

SSP Kanpur, Chief Guest; Ms Preeti Bhagat, Station Head Red

FM, alumni of the college and the Guest of Honour, and Prof.

Prithvi Yadav, Director, GHSIMR.

In his address, Mr. Yashashvi Yadav, emphasized that

everything revolves around IT. Data analysis provides immense

opportunities in problem solving, the only issue is, how to

obtain the data for analysis. It requires lot of patience along

with the intelligence and acumen, for the results do not come at

a go, but like a jigsaw puzzles pieces have to be brought into

places one by one.

Ms. Preeti Bhagat, Station Head-Red FM Kanpur and also

alumni of the institute emphasized that everything revolves

around this BIG thinking. If you think BIG that BIG will come

your way- your first cycle, your first job interview, your target

for a sales team – Everything has to reflect your BIG thinking.

Interaction with Dr. Patrick McNamara, Univ. Of Nebraska

Students of GHS-IMR were envisioned by the guest lecture of Dr. Patrick

McNamara University of Nebraska, USA. His lecture was on topics - Social

Entrepreneurship, Dealing with Conflict in the Workplace, Cross Cultural

Management and Diversity.

These lectures of Dr. Patrick enlightened the students about working in

diverse environment. It helped them in learning hands-on tools for using

conflict in creative ways determines whether conflict will be positive or

negative. Also it explained them the necessity of diversity in

employees in the workplaces and stressed on the factor which implies

significantly on Indians. To work in an increasingly diverse global

environment students of India also need interpersonal skills and cross cultural expertise.

students. The program began with invoking the goddess Saraswati

through lighting of the lamp ceremony. The occasion was graced by the

presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Sudeep Som Goenka, Director, Goldiee

Group. In his address, Mr. Sudeep Som Goenka emphasized that

everything depends on strategies which you make for your future, the

goals which you have set for yourself can be achieved only if you pursue

them in a planned manner. He also quoted Dr. Kalam “the Dream is not

what you see in sleep, Dreams are which do not let you sleep”

Socio - cultural committee of the institute organized the “Roza Iftaar”

party celebrating the month of Ramzan. The Director, all faculty

members, students and staff members sat together and had a sumptuous

meal and offered Eid prayers.

Save Girl Child 12th August, 2013

GHS-IMR first year students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the

March to Save Girl child organized by Amar Ujala. Different schools and

colleges of Kanpur participated and helped in making the rally a success.

Academy, Bangalore was organized. He spoke on Future of

Management Thought: Towards holistic Integration of American,

Japanese & Indian Management at the Institute. Resource person

shared with students his ideas with poetic pedagogy, opening

some new windows and doors of knowledge from west and east.

GHS-IMR organized the Meritorious Scholarship Award Ceremony

for the 18th Batch PGDM students. The occasion was graced by the

presence of the Chief Guest Mr. A.K Saraogi, Mr. Anil Agarwal and

Director Programme Dr. R.D Mishra.

The chief guest then, distributed the meritorious scholarships to the

second year students. Arveen Kaur received a scholarship amount of

Rs. One lakh, Shambhavi Trivedi an amount of Rs. Seventy five

thousand , Shubham Dhawan an amount of Rs. Fifty thousand , Alok

Tiwari Rs. Forty thousand and Nishtha Sethi Rs. Thirty thousand.

hosted by the Director programme Dr. R.D Mishra. This event

was celebrated by the dance, skit and songs on patriotism by

the students.

ceremony by director sir, all faculty members and staff

"Investor Awareness Program" session was organized by Acumen, the finance club at

GHS-IMR in partnership with NSE and SEBI. Resource person Mr. Abhishek Dave

shared his intellect on the importance of investing in securities market. He gave the

description of the products available and benefits of investing in securities market. The

description of rights and obligations of the investor was insightful.

speaker was Vice Admiral (Retd.) Suresh Bangara, PVSM, AVSM, at GHS-IMR auditorium. Sh. Suresh Bangara

spoke about capabilities of the people and how they utilize in their favour. He quoted Defense forces of India that

how well they are managing. Capt. Suresh Chand Tripathi welcomed the Chief Guest and shared his memories

with him. Dr. Sunil Shukla coordinated the program.

In this

series a “Faculty Development Programme” was conducted by Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Premi for GHS-IMR faculties on Benjamin Bloom's “Blooms

Taxonomy”. They were trained how to prepare a correct and balanced question paper based on educational hierarchy of cognitive learning.

The objective of these open lectures for

students and faculties is to get acquainted to the latest developments in the interdisciplinary fields and enhance learning experiences.

Knowledge partner which was jointly initiated by NSIC and MSME; Government of India.

the Trade Fair. Faculty of GHS-IMR delivered Seminar at International Trade Fair 2013. Prof.

Leadership, Dr. Sunil Shukla on Export Marketing and Dr. Monika Srivastava on Managing

Felicitation Ceremony of the Official of NSIC14th Oct. 2013A Felicitation Ceremony was organized on 14th October 2013 for the

Official of NSIC Kanpur for the success of International Trade Fair

2013 of which GHS-IMR was Knowledge Partner. On this Occasion

Mr. A.K. Singh, Dy. Zonal Manager and his team from NISIC was

presented a memento and acknowledged for their contribution.

Students were given the certificate for conduct of the fair and Faculty

members were honoured for delivering the Academic Seminar on

relevant themes in the trade fair.

to self awareness were administered by the trainer on the students

which helped the students understand themselves.

Mrs. Renu Ghosh of Sir Padampat Singhania University visited the

campus and interacted with faculty and students. Talking to the

students about the corporate world reality, they said that either

Traditional culture was brought alive at GHS-IMR in its 19th

batch Fresher's Party “IGNUS-2013”. The aura itself reflected a

Diwali celebration, the students wearing traditional attires were

welcomed at the gate by their seniors with Tilak Ceremony.

Honourable Director Dr. Rakesh Premi lit the lamp and the

program was started by a Bhajan followed by a wonderful fusion

dance performance “North meets South” displaying traditional

Kathak and Bharatnatyam dance forms. Other events like stand

up comedy act, solo singing were some great fillers to bring

audience to life. One other major highlight was a a splendid skit

of “Pyar Ka Punch”. This was followed by a stunning

instrumental performance by Anand Shrivastava playing

Mendolian which was definitely the seventh note completing

IGNUS-2013. A Motivational group song “Aashayein” inspired

the fresher's for a successful career at GHS-IMR. The program

ended in a rapturous note and concluded with sumptuous dinner

consisting of mouth watering dishes after which there was a

sparkling cracker show.
