A golden box descended from the sky to Guji-bong Hill in Gimhae. There were six eggs inside. Six princes hatched from the eggs. These princes were the rulers of Gaya’s six states. 2. Queen Heo was born in India. She sailed to Korea to marry King Suro. On the boat, she carried a stone pagoda. According to legend, the pagoda calmed the waves. When you visit Queen Heo’s tomb, you can see the stone pagoda!

가야왕국에서 온 전설 : 어휘

Three Kingdoms Period = 삼국시대 turtle = 거북

the Gaya kingdom = 가야왕국 tomb = 묘

burial mound = 분묘 sculpture = 조각품

fascinating = 매혹적인 (fascinating = very interesting)

egg = 계란 to hatch = 부화하다

hill = 언덕 princess = 공주

prince = 왕자 / 황태자 fortress = 산성 / 요새

view = 경치 mythology = 신화 / 신화학

purple = 자주빛의 / 자주색 / 보라색 ship = 배

unusual = 드문 / 예외적 voyage = 항해

wave (명사) = 파도 wave (동사) = 손을 흔들다

Gimhae’s legends ( 김해의 전설 ):

1. A golden box descended from the sky to Guji-bong Hill in Gimhae. There were six eggs inside. Six princes hatched from the eggs. These princes were the rulers of Gaya’s six states.

2. Queen Heo was born in India. She sailed to Korea to marry King Suro. On the boat, she carried a stone pagoda. According to legend, the pagoda calmed the waves. When you visit Queen Heo’s tomb, you can see the stone pagoda!
