    Brochure

Description: A proesional brochure that shows the combination of imaging, typograpy, as well as the incorporation of an original logo which I designed.

Course/Instructor: COMM-130 Visual Media, Eric Lybbert

    Date: 3/29/13

Programs Used: Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop

Objective: Create an orginal Brochure to describe a company. Incorporateimages as well as an original design to advertise the company the closest to what the

    company stands for.

Process: I started with an original idea, to have a brochure that opened up tothe reader. I wanted a subtle yet powerful design on the front cover, followed bysomething to impresss the reader as they opened the brochure to its inner infor-mation. I placed nothing more than the image of the guitar and the hook on thecover. As the reader opens the brochure, a picture of the entire recording studio isrevealed. The history of the company is explained in the text as well as the overallgoals for the company. As you ip the brochure to the back, you see the logo, as wellas my contact information. I based everything out of Adobe Indesign. I created an

original idea, using the rulers and guides from Adobe Indesign to customize the nalimage.

LetterheadDescription: Original letterhead designed for Hook Records.

Course/Instructor: COMM-130 Visual Media, Eric Lybbert

    Date: 3/2/13

    Programs Used: Adobe Indesign

Objective: Create an original letterhead and watermark to be used within acompany.

Process:Hook Records is a ctional record/recording company. The Logo

represents the company because it is a record, and the arm that has the needlethat plays the record, is a hook. It also shows the catchiness of the company.Just as a hook gets a sh, Hook Records catches audiences.

I already had the name Hook, because its a name that I have always liked. Ialways wanted to work for a record company, so I just put them togther. Themore I played with the idea and the design, the better it turned out. I created therecord in indesign, by making a circle, flling it with black, and then putting anothercircle above it, and flling it in. I then drew a Hook, with the pencil, tool. I changed theont do be the 3 lines, to show the similarity o the record lines. I then took the ont

Cracked, and placed it behind the hook.

Web PageDescription: An original example of a webpage created for the companyHook Records

Course/Instructor: COMM-130 Visual Media, Eric Lybbert

    Date: 3/16/13

Programs Used: Text Wrangler, Adobe Dreamweaver,

Objective: Create a webpage writing personalized HTML and CSS code.

Process: I used a basic template for CSS I changed all of the font families to aScript and a Sans-serif combination. I also changed the colors of the page to matchthe red and Black color scheme of my logo. I rst wrote the HTML code for my web-site. The bones for this design was given to me from my professor, but I cus-tomized the text to portray what I wanted from it. I made the outline in HTML code.I then placed the CSS code, which allowed me to edit the layout of the webpage. Ichanged the colors of the page through CSS code, to match my original logo design.I also changed the fonts through CSS code, to make the webpage have a better ow,as well as stronger contrast. The screenshot didnt turn out very attractive, just because I had to take two snapshots of the web page, because I wasnt able toget a single shot of the entire web page at one time.

LogosDescription: 3 original logo designs for Hook Incorporated

Course/Instructor: COMM-130 Visual Media, Eric Lybbert

    Date: 2/23/13

    Program Used: Adobe Illustrator

Objective: Using Adobe Illustrator, create 3 original logo designs that can be used by aprofessional company.

Process: Hook Incorporated isnt a real business, I made it up for this project. Although if I wereto ever make a business, I would name it that. When the project explained that we needed to do 3

dierent types, I wanted to try and make sure that I made each one dierent and unique. I wanted todesign an image for one, Make one look fresh, and make one hip. For the rst image, I wrote out thename of the company, and then looked at the possible eects I could use. I found the paint splotch, andbegan to play with it. I put a Charcoal eect on Hook inside of the paint splotch. I then took the brushtool, and made a line in the back, to give contrast to the logo. For the second logo, I traced an image ofa Hook, that I found o of Google. After tracing it, I played with the coloring, and twisted the image alittle. I then chose my favorite font, the same font that I used in each of the 3 examples, and underlinedthem in red for contrast. My last logo, I edited the font, and created my own. I played with the anchorpoints of the letter, which allowed me to shape the letter how I wanted. After a lot of time, I made theletters look like a hook. I really like how they turned out.

I focused on contrastwith my title, having white letters on a black background. I repeated the color scheme ofblack, white, and grey which originated from the companies logo, and applied it to the entireier. I made a small body copy, and bolded the most important aspects. I maintained, acontinuous slanted ow. I used proximity, alignment, repetition, contrast, and ow to createmy ier.

    Date: 2/8/13

    Program Used: Adobe Photoshop

Objective: Practice editing an image using Adobe Photoshop, be sure to de-satu-rate an image, as well as change color tones.

Process: I rst went and had a photo shoot at Porter Park, in Rexburg, Idaho. Imade sure to go when it was overcast, so I would have the best lighting conditions. Af-ter taking various photos, I opened each individual image in Adobe Photoshop, lookingfor the best image that I could use, according to the 66 inch crop that was requiredfor the project. After choosing my image, I began to edit it in Photoshop. I used theQuick Selection tool, and selected my sweater, as well as the red bars of the junglegym. I then de-saturated the rest of the image, keeping the color in-tact. A result wasthat the color was too vibrant, so I edited the colorization, to make the colors mixbetter.
