Ms. Meiling M.L. YEUNG

I was born in Fujian, a beautiful province in China, grew up in HK and married with three lovely kids. I have experience of teaching from K3 to University students and training teachers, I think the most valuable thing we can teach students / teachers is how to be curious and resourceful learners.

Outside of teaching, I love 3S, Singing, Sleeping, and Shopping, reading and writing are also my favorite self enhancement activities. As someone with passion for nature, I had my NAUI certified diver licence 13 years ago. After giving birth to children, I do more hiking, aerial yoga and Pilates. I particularly love to travel with my family, we travel at least twice a year, this summer, we had fabulous two weeks in Greece. Guess where are we going for the next holiday?

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and spend much of my spare time doing sports and working on science projects.

By teaching students how to enjoy science, I help them achieve academic pursuits and goals. I love to integrate a lot of activities in my teaching such that students can learn in an interactive environment, School life is full of fun!

It is a good time to develop research-based science projects to cultivate our future GT scientists and implement STEM projects to train our future GT ‘tech innovators’. Mathematical research-based projects such as Hang Lung Maths Awards, Olympiads in Mathematics and Physics and STEM projects for students are three main streams of my work. I believe GT students can blossom in the near future hrough practice, patience and persistence.

Having taught in GT College for over a decade, I find GT a supportive and far-sighted school, not only to students, but also to each member of the staff. Under the great leadership of Professor Li and Dr. Chan in the primary section, teachers and students will find their strength and full potential. I am proud to be one of the valuable staff members in this big family.

My goal is to nurture GT students to become responsible and independent adolescents. I strongly believe that to facilitate

students to take responsibility to their own actions and to be independent learners are vital in primary education. I think to lead students to be self motivated learners is not merely through teaching them knowledge from books, but hand in hand, going over problems and obstacles with them. Throughout the 6-year school life, we teachers are here to experience joy and sorrow, success and failure with our students.

Ms. Yeung is enjoying GT's 20th Anniversary talent show with all the students.

Dear parents, teachers and students,

For academic year 2018-19, we have appointed four assistant principals, two for primary and two for secondary, to further improve our management capacity. They are experienced and professional teachers with outstanding achievements:

Meiling has had over 20 years of teaching experience. She started as a PE teacher and has risen from panel head, division head to assistant principal. “G.T. is her home”, she remarked.

Ling is a new comer to G.T. Energetic, sporty and sociable, she has extensive experience in teaching and learning and staff development. I believe she will contribute much in the future.

Founder

Alex is a science addict in his school years. He holds degrees in theoretical physics and computer science. He is now leading G.T. students to do research as budding scientists and mathematicians.

Albert has an outstanding track record in gifted education before joining us. He was a former deputy director of Hong Kong Academy of Gifted Education. His extensive administrative experience is a good match for pushing G.T.’s objectives ahead.

It is my hope to have more high caliber professionals to join and grow in this G.T. family.

　　本年度健康運動會在西貢鄧肇堅運動場舉行，當天有400多位家長及孩子乘坐城巴到運動場。感謝118位家長義工，不辭勞苦地擔當裁判及照顧孩子工作。參

加個人項目的孩子有1700人次，人數眾多，足見各個不同位置的家長義工及老師的辛勞。雖然如此，能夠為孩子打造一個開心又難忘的運動會，我們是十分享受的。

　　本年度參加歡樂跑的父母親人數，是歷屆之冠，有384多人，體現到父母親對孩子的支持。而親子接力比賽有700多人次參加，場上的默契及溫馨場面，觸目皆是。在宣讀班際及各級個人全場總冠軍前，我們進行了一場既精彩又刺激的團體4X100接力比賽。此時全場比賽氣氛推至最高峰。比賽隊伍由5支家長團體代表及2支老師代表競逐。最後賽果，由老師代表取得冠軍及季軍，家長代表亦取得亞軍。今年除了學生參賽人次、歡樂跑參加人數破紀錄外，更有多個個人項目刷新紀錄，實在令人鼓舞。

　18-19年度小學部健康運動會

　　三天的杭州——香港交流團，讓杭州學生與優才同學一起上課，更體驗了優才書院的特色課程——才華班，在各種課堂上大展身手，獲益良多。放學後，由接待家庭帶領，遊覽經典景點，遊逛特色街巷。一家大小，賓主和樂，全都盡興而歸。

　　對負責接待的同學而言，這也是難得的體驗和歷練。三天來，他們身兼三職——是朋友、是導遊、也是翻譯。在校園生活的忙碌之中，他們還要思考：客人怎樣安排？會不會受冷落？我們在哪兒會合？客人能找到嗎？不僅要盡地主之誼，更要學習如何照料他人，確是寶貴的一課。

　　臨別之際，優才同學的成長處處可見：吃飯時謙讓，行動時提點，推行李時也主動伸出援手。成長就是這樣，在一課接一課的歷練之中，漸漸成熟。

It’s that time of the year again!! Two exchange groups from our sister schools KVIS and MWITS (Thailand) came visit us during early October. We prepared a range of educational activities and tailor-made excursions around town for our guests to soak in our unique curriculum .

This year, the International Exchange Group at G.T. strives to excel by introducing a quality assurance program to maintain a high level of satisfaction. Judging by the responses from our guests, it seems like we are on the right track for success!!

International Exchange News: KVIS and MWITS to GT College

本年度陸運會於10月5日在將軍澳運動場舉行。當日天朗氣清，全體師生準時到場。由譚校長主持開幕禮後，賽事正式開始。由於鐵餅場地的保護網受颱風「山竹」吹襲破損，是次鐵餅比賽一律均予取消。雖然賽項減少，但仍擋不住同學參賽的熱情，本年度合共有4個項目破了歷屆賽事紀錄，包括男子甲組100米、女子乙組100米及400米，以及女子乙組跳高。當日壓軸的教職員接力賽將陸運會的氣氛推至頂峰，結果比賽由英文科老師奪標。比賽過後，是畢業班同學答謝學校全體老師多年悉心照顧教導的歌舞表演。其後是頒奬禮環節，各項冠軍逐一在全體師生的恭賀掌聲下誕生。最後，陸運會在陳副校長致訓詞後宣佈結束。

G12同學精彩的表演。不知不覺在優才就讀了十二年，今年是我最後一次參與中學

部的運動會，心頭既高興又失落。高興是因為能與自己班的同學一起奮鬥，並連續三年榮獲高中級總冠軍，失落則是因為這已是我最後一次機會在中學運動會上一展身手了。在中學生涯中的最後一次運動會能獲取佳績，並打破自己的個人紀錄，當然是一件值得高興的事。但運動會上令我最難忘的，卻不是得獎的時刻，而是我班同學齊心叫喊口號和揮動班旗的情景，以及其他不同班別的健兒為自己班全力打拼，爭取勝利的過程。這些畫面，讓我明白團結精神的可貴，雖事隔多日，此刻仍歷歷在目。我衷心感謝學校為我們安排多姿多彩的活動，令我們各人都可以發揮所長。希望各位學弟學妹日後都可以本着堅毅團結的精神，令優才的運動成績蒸蒸日上。

　　小學部家教會週年大會已於10月12日圓滿結束，當晚有接近三百位家長出席。在邱國光博士的「性情教育，生命儒學」的精彩講座後，新一屆的家教會正副主席亦順利誕生，5D董子睿爸爸董文健先生以高票連任主席一職，副主席由3D龔晉逸媽媽陳迪秀女士及4A李思毅媽媽林苑彤女士當選。

　　大家好，我是今屆家教會主席董文健。 盼望今年與各委員群策群力，發揮「家校一心、薪火相傳」的精神，讓老師、同工、家長及學生共享愉快的校園生活。

　　我們一班熱心的委員在10月22日已開了第一次常務會議，出席的有陳校長、家聯組老師及正副班代表，熱鬧非常，大家十分融洽，更要非常感謝工友們為我們準備的美食。各委員在會上都踴躍發言，更願意擔任不同職務，服務學校及家教會，真令我感動。

　　當選初小副主席，我深感榮幸，感激各方友好的鼎力支持！優才學校裏很有愛，選舉日家長們紛紛給我送上鼓勵的說話，有些家長更特意前來為我投下一票，令我甚為感動，在此衷心感謝每一位。我會努力實踐「敢於領導，樂於服務」的精神，不會辜負大家的期望！

　　今年能當選成為副主席，我有一點意外和驚喜。從小一開始成為班代表，一直致力幫助家長和學校做聯絡及溝通的工作，渴望能夠回饋學校。未來的一年我將會盡力協助主席推行各項活動，與學校齊心合力，達到家校一心！
