Travelling in a wheelchairthrough the streetsof SevilleThe Old Quarters of our city is the largestof its type in all Europe and also one ofthe oldest. It abounds with interestingcorners and intimate, quiet or livelysquares, located in the shade or in thesun. To find them, you should follow thesteps of everyone, through the streets ofSeville. The streets of the Old Quarter arewinding, narrow, with plenty of palace

houses, convents and churches, privatehomes, bars, taverns, orange trees, tiling, traditions and customs which stillmanage to sur pr ise ever yone.

This is why sometimes, when going fromone place to another, whether on footor on wheels, it is only possible to travelin the street, due to the lack ofpavements or to the width of thepavements. The streets of Seville arenarrow or extremely narrow. This meansthat pedestrians and vehicles aretravelling along the same road andtherefore, naturally, we have learnt torespect each other and give way.

Thanks to a blend of cultures andcenturies of history (Roman and Moslemin particular) the city of Seville enjoyshistorical gardens and parks of greatbeauty. These are unique spaceswhere trees, flowers, plants and fountainsare indispensable elements of the urbanscenery in the city, providing areas forleisure, enjoyment and rest for theinhabitants.

Nor should the green zones along thebanks of the River Guadalquivir beforgotten, living banks emblematic ofthe city.

Seville is a forward-looking city withsuburban parks providing the city withthe green spaces necessary to allowcontinual growth.
