    was accompanying his

    daughter, Kalena Blake,who wanted to help outHabitat for Humanity Indo-

    nesia. Blake Jr . jo ined us amonth ago, when Habitatfor Humanity Indonesiapartnered with the U.S.embassy for a group bui ld .

    A ceh Daruss alam(NAD) on July 2nd,2013. The quake was

    felt f rom regional capital BandaAceh to Ben er Mer iah. T heBener Meriah and Central Acehdistr icts were hardest h i t . Manypeople were in jured, lost anddead; as wel l as many housesand publ ic faci l i t ies (schools,mosques, etc . ) were damaged. Within 48 hours of thedisaster, Rapid Response team

    from Habitat for Humanity (HFH)Indonesia observed theaffected area and reportedwhat HFH Indonesia can do tohelp. Habitat p lanned and

    prepared to bui ld a number ofhouses for them whose house

    was damaged. However, s ince only thelocal government who wasal lowed to do construct ion andrenovation houses in theaffected area, HFH Indonesiachanged the plan into provid ingclean water access at KampungBal ik , Kute Panang sub-distr ict ,Aceh T engah d ist r i ct . Theprogram cal led TakengonProject (Takengon is the capitalof Aceh Tengah d istr ict )

    Later that month,Claps6a group consisted of23 youths from South Korea joined and helped the Global

    Vi l lage program as wel l . In th isGlobal Vi l lage, they also helpedbui ld two houses.

    One of the houses wasowned by Set ia Budi Sembir ing(45) and his wife Suminem brGint ing (46) who are farmers aswel l . The two support theirthree sons with an income ofIDR 1,500,000/month (aboutUSD 130/month) . Budi and Suminem orig i-nal ly l ived in a house that wason st i l ts for approximately 22years . I t was a very s implehouse with a thatched roof,wal ls , and a wooden f loor. Sincethere is no electr ic i ty for l ight-ing in the area, the family wouldrely on candles. They sent theirchi ldren to school but only up toHigh School , which they arealready grateful for . Budi and Suminem needfor a good dai ly l i fe and school

    expenses were ranked muchhigher than their need for adecent home, which wasthought l i t t le of . After Habitat

    The Malaysian groupcame on June 29thJuly 4th,2014. They were from GardenInternat ional School Malaysiaand composed of 19 studentsand three teachers. One of thebenefic iary famil ies that thegroup helped was Pranki Gint ingand his family of three. PrankiGint ing (29) and his wife Emita-bita Apri l ly br Tarigan (26) workas farmers with a total incomeof IDR 1,450,000/month, which

    is equivalent to USD 126/month. The two have a5-years-old son. Pranki and Emitabitagraduated solely from JuniorHigh school so they were onlyable to get jobs in the farmingindustry. The f i rst year of theirmarriage, they l ived with theirparents, and the fol lowing year,moved to their grandmothershouse.

    During their residence intheir grandmas house, theirf i rst son was born.
