    Hadithism

    Posted onDecember 19, 2011

Hadithism, stems from the belief that the Quran Alone does not suffice as a guide for

mankind to travel along the straight path back towards Allah, and that in actuality it requiresthe Quran plus countless volumes of books called hadith, along with various other

supplemental sources, just to be able to comprehend the Quran and make proper use of it.All Muslims believe in the infinite power, wisdom, and creative ability of Allah, Most High. AllMuslims believe that He Alone was capable of constructing all that exists in the heavens

and the earth in six days (in other words six phases) without the least bit of help frommankind. Despite this, very few believe Allah to be capable of authoring the most

comprehensive guide to living in harmony with the System and Order of Allah in the form ofa simple book, written in a clear and concise format, and in a language that convey the

message in the most comprehensive way.

Some have adopted an extreme position by claiming that the Quran is far too complex forthe average mind to make sense of, and that the average laymen is more likely to misleadhimself as well as all of the other uneducated masses, so Allah designated an elite class ofpeople who are to be the sole interpreters of the Quran while maintaining a completemonopoly over the system employed in the process of interpretation and translation into

other languages. The scholars are made into Lords, and serve as the defacto gateway thatall must pass through on their way to divine knowledge and wisdom, when in fact it is theclergy who act as nothing but filters of knowledge by determining what is useful knowledge

and what is not. All interpretations must pass the litmus test of the hadith scholars who are

self-appointed experts on religion (religion is not the same as deen), their rulings, andopinions. Hadithists are following in the footsteps of the Former Peoples (Jews &

    Christians).

    Allah says:

    9.Surah At-Tawbah (Verse 31)

They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to serve one God; there is no deityexcept Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.

    9.Surah At-Tawbah (Verse 32)

They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except toperfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.

For this very same reason, it is forbidden that any laymen should even utter the slightestutterance in reference to the meaning of the Quran. None should speak on the Quran

unless they are a member of the elite class, or one of their students. These are the onlypeople who are authorized to speak about the Quran. Anyone not belonging to either of theaforementioned groups risks being ostracized in this life as well as going to Hell in the next

should he/she happen to misinterpret, mistranslate, misunderstand, express an opinionabout, or implement anything found between the pages of the Quran without first verifyingits correctness with a Board Certified Scholar of Islam.

The Hadithist Sect is comprised of two smaller sub-sects which have renamed themselvesaccording to their sectarian viewpoints, one of which goes by Ahlus Sunnah wa Al-Jamaah(The People of the Sunnah and the Community / Sunni Islam), and the other by Ash-Shiatu

Ali or Ash-Shiatu Ahlul Bayt (Supporters of Ali / People of the House (of the Prophet) Shii

Islam). From there these two sects splinter off into other smaller sects, having only onething in common between them all, and that is their reliance upon Hadith literature tointerpret the Quran and to enact laws. Each sect has its own exclusive set of Hadith bookswhich they use for this very purpose.

This, despite the fact that in many places throughout the Quran Allah clearly forbids themixing of other teachings with that of the Quran, and commands that the Quran be madethe sole authority in matters of Deen. Hadithist usually counter this argument with ayats

such as 4:59, which commands all Muslims to obey Allah, the Messenger, and those inauthority among them:

    4.Surah An-Nis (Verse 59)

O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authorityamong you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if youshould believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.

The Interpretation of Obey Allah & His Messenger

For Hadithists, this ayat is interpreted in the following way:

1). Obey Allah = Obey the Quran.

2). Obey the Messenger = Obey the Hadith.

  • 7/30/2019 Hadithism - Jamil Mccant

    3/9

3). Obey those in authority (Ulu Al-Amr) among you = Obey the Caliph / Imam / Scholars /Clergy (Ahbr).

4). The common belief among the Hadithists is that the words those in authority are used

to refer to the elite class, people such as scholars, socio-political leaders, various nobilities,

and according to some, even dictators are included among those in authority, which isobviously not based upon any Quranic injunction, rather it is based upon untrustworthy,

    man-made collections of hadith.

Those who have accepted the Quran Alone as their sole source of guidance in matters

pertaining to Deen (Universal System and Order of Allah known simply as Islam

(Peace/Submission)) reject the Hadithist interpretation of this ayat, because it isinconsistent with the Quran as a whole. When understood from a purely Quranic

perspective it looks more like this:

1). Obey Allah = Obey the Quran

2). Obey the Messenger = Obey the model of the Messenger as defined in the Quran, not

the example as defined in Hadith or sources other than Quran. Therefore, to obey themessenger would mean that one must follow the same QURANIC System of Judgment that

was enjoined by Allah UPON ALL PROPHETS and their followers with respect to theirauthorized religious texts. Never, in the history of mankind has Allah permitted orcommanded His servants to seek judgments from sources outside of their revealed texts.

We do not find any mention of a Sunnah that is to be followed, nor any mention of a book

that is to be used in conjunction with the revealed books of Allah, and that is an undeniablefact based upon the Quran itself.

3). Obey those in authority (Ulu Al-Amr) among you = Obedience to those who urge the

people towards acts of righteousness and obedience to the divine laws, as detailed for us inthe Quran. Outside of this, there is no other recognized authority in the Deen of Islam. The

same applies to any man-made clerical hierarchies, titles, ranks, or positions that have beenauthorized by man, but not by the Quran.

4). All matters of dispute are to be settled using the Quran Alone. We are to submit to the

ruling just as the Prophets submitted to it. The words obey Allah and obey the Messengerdoes not mean that there are two separate entities, both of which we must obey in different

aspects of Deen. In reality, it means to obey Allah by obeying the instructions detailed in the

Quran as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, which he delivered word-for-word tomankind without adding anything of his own.

    An Example:

Obey Allah and the Messenger summed up in one ayat

    4/9

4:127 And they request from you, [O Muhammad], a [legal] ruling concerning women.Say, Allah gives you a ruling about them and what has been recited to you in the Book

1). They came to the Prophet for a ruling

2). Allah responds with Say Allah gives you a ruling about them. The ruling came fromAllah, not the Messenger

3). The ruling is revealed as a part of the Quran, and made public so that people can seethe question and the response.

This theme is repeated in the Quran

And they ask you about, Say

This is OBEYING ALLAH ==> &

I have yet to see anyone refute the following argument which proves without a doubt that

Islam does not sanction blind-following (taqleed) nor the reliance of sources of Law outsideof Quran:

Most Hadithists do not know that the only Sunnahs mentioned in the Quran are the

    1). Sunnah of Allah

2). Sunnah of the former peoples (Al-Awwaleen)

    Allah says:

    35.Surah Fir (Verse 43)

[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompassexcept its own people. Then do they await except the Sunnah of the Former Peoples (Al-Awwaleen)? But you will never find in the Sunnah of Allah any change, and you will neverfind in the Sunnah of Allah any alteration.

Allah makes it clear that He has an established way or Sunnah which never changes, neverdeviates, never alters, and that the same end result which was experienced by the former

peoples will revisit us if we follow in their footsteps.

    9.Surah At-Tawbah (Verse 39)

If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment and will replace youwith another people, and you will not harm Him at all. And Allah is over all thingscompetent.

The Sunnah of Allah towards His Prophets:

    33.Surah Al-Azb (Verse 38)

There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which Allah hasimposed upon him. [This is] the established Sunnah of Allah with those [prophets] whohave passed on before. And ever is the command of Allah a destiny decreed.

    And also..

    6/9

    3.Surah li `I mrn (Verse 79)

It is not for a human [prophet] that Allah should give him the Scripture and authority and

prophethood and then he would say to the people, Be servants to me rather than Allah, but [instead, he would say], Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you havetaught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied.

New Sunnah, same as the Old Sunnah:

    33.Surah Al-Azb (Verse 62)

[This is] the established Sunnah of Allah with those who passed on before; and you will not

find in the Sunnah of Allah any change.

Therefore, the way that Allah has done in the past will always be the way He will do in thefuture and there are no exceptions to this rule anywhere in the Heavens or on Earth.

2). Allah sent Prophets/Messengers as warners and bringers of glad tidings and with booksby which they and those who followed them were to judge by. The Prophets as well as

those who followed them were not permitted to judge by anything other than the revealedbook of Allah (Torah, Injeel, Quran, etc.). Never in the history were the people commandedto combine the teachings from the book of Allah with either the Sunnah of a Prophet, norteachings found in sectarian religious texts written by men without the authority from Allah.

Allah does not vouch for any book or source of guidance other than His own revealedscriptures. That is a fact.

All Prophets served Allah according the guidelines laid out for them in their holy books andwere commanded to judge by the Book and nothing but the Book. Those who followed the

Prophets were to do the same and were given revelations in the form of books which

contained guidance and instruction for them. This is the Sunnah of Allah and it does notchange.

Surah 5:43-50 lays it out clearly for all to see. These are the only ayats one needs to refute

the claim of anyone who says Hadith are required to correctly follow the Quran. We willexamine them one-by-one.

    The Torah (Al-Tawrh)

5:43 But how is it that they come to you for judgement while they have the Torah, in whichis the judgement of Allah? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [infact] believers.

Note: According to the sects, Christians and Jews will not be allowed to enter Paradise

unless they accept Islam, but Allah tells the Jews to continue to refer to their book. Notice, there is no mention of the other books the Jews refer to such as the Talmud. The Jews

were condemned in Surah 2:100-101 for doing what many Muslims are doing today, namelycombining the teachings of man-made texts with that of the Revealed Book.

5:44 Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets whosubmitted [to Allah ] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that withwhich they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah , and they were witnesses thereto. Sodo not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. Andwhoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed then it is those who are thedisbelievers.

Note: Allah says the Prophets of Israel, the Rabbis and Scholars all judged according to thesame book. Why do we not see that they referred to the Sunnah of their Prophets forJudgment? Why does Allah say that anyone who judges by something other than his

revealed books are disbelievers if this is the accepted way among our Ummah? Did Allahchange His Sunnah?

5:45 And We ordained for them therein a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose,an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is legal retribution. But whoevergives [up his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him. And whoever does not judge bywhat Allah has revealed then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

Note: The context here is clearly about the Torah and nothing else. Those among the Jewswho judged by something other than the Torah, are not only disbelievers, but alsowrongdoers (Zhalimeen).

    The Injeel (Gospel)

5:46 And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming thatwhich came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidanceand light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instructionfor the righteous.

Note: Those who follow Jesus, were given the Injeel, which confirmed (not abrogated) theTorah. It contained guidance for proper living and instructions. Did Allah give them another

man-made book to go along with the Injeel? No.

5:47 And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein. Andwhoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed then it is those who are the defiantlydisobedient.

    8/9

Note: Allah tells the living (at the time) Prophet to tell those who follow the Injeel that they

are to seek their judgments from what Allah has revealed therein in the Injeel, indicatingthat not all of the book is from Allah, yet He still allows them to judge by WHAT ALLAH

REVEALED in the text. They were not permitted to judge by those parts that did not comefrom Allah. How were they to know the difference? The following ayats will give us theanswer. Allah states that those who did not comply are defiantly disobedient.

    The Quran (The Reading)

5:48 And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming thatwhich preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them bywhat Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come toyou of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, Hewould have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in whatHe has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and Hewill [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.

Note: Allah revealed the Quran confirming the previous scriptures. Therefore, the way to

know what came from Allah in those books and what didnt is by comparing what is written

therein to the Quran. Allah goes further to say that we are all being tested by what He hasgiven you. In other words, texts such as the Talmud, books of Hadith, etc. are a means of

testing who is true and who is not. This is confirmed for us in Surah 6:112-114.

5:49 And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do notfollow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of whatAllah has revealed to you. And if they turn away then know that Allah only intends toafflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are

    defiantly disobedient.

Note: Here, Allah tells the Prophet to be wary of the people and to be careful not to allowhimself to be tempted away from what Allah has revealed to him by making personal

judgments that would be pleasing to them, rather than by referring to Quran. This is

confirmed in Surah 17:73-74 and in 5:43.

5:50 Then is it the judgement of [the time of] ignorance they desire? But who is better thanAllah in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith].

Note: Finally, Allah exposes the motives of those who would rather seek judgment fromother than what Allah has revealed in His books. They wish to do so, in order to return tothe system of judgment of the time of ignorance, prior to Islam.
