Actorsingers Set Sail For Romance, Hi-jinks On The High-seas, And Lots Of Family Fun With “Anything Goes”
NASHUA – Actorsingers, Nash-ua’s longest-running musical the-ater group, now in its 55th season, is pleased to announce their fall show, Cole Porter’s classic “Any-thing Goes.” This beloved musi-cal comedy is set in the 1930s and features such classic show tunes as “You’re the Top,” “De-Lovely” and “Let’s Misbehave.” Gangsters, star-crossed lovers and shipboard antics all add up to a wonderful night of theater.
This performance unites a “dream team” of NHTA-winning directors: Dana Bissett-Siegal as di-rector, Jed Holland as music direc-tor, and Martha Daniels Holland as choreographer. Bissett-Siegal and Daniels Holland previously helmed the well-received “42nd Street” pro-duction in 2005.
The show itself is seemingly “tran-scending generations” for the orga-nization. Having first performed it in 1969, then again in 1989, now in 2009, it’s managed to bring back people involved in the previous pro-ductions, in one way or another, giv-
ing it a real “family” feel. Laura Pri-or, who’s playing the role of “Hope Harcourt” is joined in this produc-tion by Catherine Z. Andruskevich, “Hope 1989”. Cast in the ensemble this time around, as well as serving as Company Coordinator, Cathe-rine says, “Hope was one of my fa-vorite roles with Actorsingers. It’s been a lot of fun reliving it through-out this production.” Linnea McAl-lister, who was “Hope 1969”, is a Life Member of the Actorsingers, and also the wife of John McAllister, 2009’s Set Designer, a Life Member as well.
Choreographer Martha Daniels Holland also appeared in the 1989 production. Now she’s part of the three-person directing team with her husband, musical director Jed Holland. “To me,” she says, “it’s really cool that I was on stage and Jed was in the orchestra 20 years ago, and now we’re on the directing team for this production.” And, she adds, with five kids, “Jed and I really look forward to rehearsals for some adult time!”
Dana Bissett-Siegal is working with her husband – Ed Siegal who won the role of Sir Evelyn. “It’s been a great experience,” Ed Siegal says, “because our relationship devel-oped in community theater. I have such respect for her abilities as a di-rector. We can totally separate our personal and theatrical lives.”
Daniel Pelletier returns in this production as “the Bishop”, a role he played in 1989. Donna O’Bryant Metzger, “Bonnie” in 1989, once again joins the passenger list, as does Mark Coutu, who’s father Mo, was 1989’s “Billy”. Raelene Lilje-berg and Warren Tomasian are back working Costumes, and Set Construction respectively, as they did in the 1969 production, and the list goes on, and on; a tribute to the Actorsingers’ ever-expanding, and continuing family.
“Anything Goes” runs Friday, November 13, through Sunday, No-vember 15, at the Keefe Auditorium, Elm Street Middle School, Nashua. Tickets are $18, call 320-1870 or go to www.actorsingers.org.
