Dear Members and Friends of HSK: How has your week been? Cool? Hot? The heat is really bad in parts of Europe. However, I am wondering if these sunny days are going to make the rice grow better and taste better? Maybe yes! Well, either late tonight or tomorrow, Ruth-san and I will be flying to Honolulu to spend a few days with some of our children who live there and then on to Georgia and Alabama. Family there are expecting to meet us and hear about what the Lord is doing in HSK. I will give them a good report. They have been praying for you and want to hear even better reports! Today, I do not know if I will continue to talk on the same truth which you have heard from me for the past two weeks. However, I am still thinking about what I have said. And one reason for my thoughts is that I know that some of us may not really understand all that was said. Really, I think that if you are a new Christian or a new member of the church, you may need to hear a message about God’s love or God’s joy. But…I am convinced that a church with ‘strong’ Christians will display much about the love and joy of our Heavenly Father. If too many church members are discouraged or disappointed or tired, something will be missing about the meaning of following the Lord. We must ‘press on’ to maturity (See Hebrews 6:1). Amen? Although you will hear me say this

today, during my absence from HSK for the next 3 Sundays, I need everyone to be aware of what needs to be done and then try to help. Chairs may need to be arranged or lights turned on or garbage removed or snacks distributed. But let me add this: Please be on time and expecting to hear God speak to you. Yes, for two Sundays, the speaker will speak in Portuguese! So if you only speak English, make sure you have a working radio to hear the message. And if you only hear half of the message, do not allow a lie from hell convince you that you did not hear God speak. You are attending a church that is not like all other churches in this city but God is doing something good in you and me. Let’s believe that….please. Yes, Ruth-san and I will enjoy our time with children and grandchildren but I can assure you that you will often be in our prayers. This is our hometown, Hama-matsu. This is our church, HSK. You are our joy! So as we pray for you, please pray for us. We want to be in good health and be a blessing to others. My mother is really looking forward to hearing more about what the Lord is doing in you. I do not think she will ever return to Japan but she wants to. May the Lord bless you more this week and keep you in good health. Your pastor……Ben

As announced last Sunday…the Ugandan Children’s Choir (Watato) will return to sing and dance in Hamamatsu and Kakegawa…October 2nd and 4th! There is no admission fee but the num-ber of seats are l imited, about 100 seats at two churches. This will be a great experience for your friends who are not Christians yet! More information can be found in the SKI stand. Volunteers are needed. Please talk to Yukio-san today.

The guest speakers…at HSK during our pastor’s absence is as follows: September 22nd….Sarah Gordon-san “ 29th…Hanamoto Angelo-san October 6th…Okada Yukio-san Your pas to r i s so pleased because of what he believes God will say through them which will make HSK more alive! Yukio-san will be leading the church for the next 3 weeks which means he wi l l answer al l your questions!

Last Sunday(8th)…an employee of the business located in the warehouse next to HSK was complaining about some cars parked in front of the en t rance t o h i s building. He knows he cannot use the parking area every Sunday. So, please use pa t i ence i n

conversations with him and hopefully this problem will be solved quickly!

One more church bulletin…will be printed this month and then for two Sundays(9/29 & 10/6) there will not be any bulletin. This means that the financial report for this month will be printed next month . P.S . We will learn a new song next month!

Many thanks to Lynn-san…who prepared the meal which we ate last Sunday. She arrived very early to start the preparations and then washed a lot of pots after the meal. Your pastor wants more members of HSK to help her every month! Can you hear him calling your name? In the future, please talk to Lynn-san about what you can do with her when the the Sunday arrives for us to eat together!

A church parking attendant…may not be seen every Sunday. Therefore…when there is no attendant, please see if space is available for your car in the

gym. BUT….if y o u h a v e n o children and can walk, please use the #2 parking

area. Yes, you will be sweating by the time you arrive at the church but the sweat will add something to the glory of God on your face! (Your pastor believes this will happen!)

Gospel work in our day must be more than just little stories, doctrinal presen-tations, and polite lectures. It must carry a sense of God’s living power. It must show a living Holy Spirit who is still active on the earth. We hear endlessly about the growing menace of the occult and Satan’s hold on people. But if Satan is alive and working in the earth, can we not expect the living, all-powerful Spirit of God to work also? That is what the writer of Hebrews indicated when he said the message of salvation “was first announced by the Lord…and God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will”. In other words, the antidote to satanic schemes is twofold: the Word of God and a demonstration of the Holy Spirit power. When people visit our churches today, they need to see something happening that

reinforces the message of salvation. They need to meet a reclaimed alcoholic, the reunited family, a former homosexual who has been turned around, a sick person who has been healed—something that bears witness to a living, powerful Savior. We must pray as never before, “Lord, come down to us and work with the word we preach. Stretch out Your hand as we deliver the message You gave us.” We must rearrange our busy personal and church schedules to make time for what the church at Antioch did when “they min-istered to the Lord” (Acts 13:2). In our times of waiting, prayer, and fasting, God will faithfully respond to our need to have more of Him. The ministry of any church is absolutely hopeless without the Holy Spirit. We have no talent or ability in ourselves that will do the job. Only the Spirit of God can help us make a difference for Jesus Christ.

Please pray for pastor and Ruth-san as they travel to Hawaii, Georgia and Alabama. May they stay well the whole time.

These summer storms have been bad, especially in the Bahamas. Please pray for the people who lost everything.

Let’s believe for the salvation of our family members this week.

We praise the Lord for each visitor. Will you pray for the Lord to work in all their lives?

Please pray for all the single moms in HSK. They all need God’s wisdom and help each day.

Let’s pray for Japan’s new emperor and his family. The pressures on them can be great at times.

Please keep our church worship team in your prayers. They all desire to be lead by the Holy Spirit each Sunday.

Some people attending our church are facing big problems. Many need to be strengthened and encouraged.

Will you pray for those serving the Lord in China? There is much persecution there these days.

Please pray for again for Pastor Ben’s mother, Wrae-san, to have good health and strength for each day.

Please continue to pray for Ronaldo-san’s mother and father as they both have health problems.

Let’s pray again for the peace of Jerusalem and for the prime minister, Mr. Netanyahu to be saved. ……………………………………………………………. Note: If you do not want your prayer request to be in the church bulletin, please mark that clearly on your prayer request card.
