1. G. Folkard and J. Sutherland in Agroforestry Today; Holmes, University of Strathclyde inScotland, proved and demonstrated that the use of crushed Moringa seeds can clarifydangerously impure water.2. James A. Duke (1983) identified the antibiotic in Moringa as Pterygospermin, a bactericidal and fungicidal compound. Mark Olson gave the chemical description of the antibiotic compound as glucosinolate 4 alpha-L-rhamnosyloxy benzoyl isothiocynate. He also provedthat fresh Moringa leaf juice produced inhibition of the bacterium Pseudononas aereginosa.3. Lectin taken from Moringa pod can modulate the body's defense system (K.K.Jayavardhanan, et al., 1994).4. Moringa root bark contains an alkaloid called moringinine which acts as a cardiac stimulant and produced an increase in blood pressure. Extract from stem bark, however,can increasethe rate of heart contractions at low concentrations and decrease the rate at highconcentrations, thereby lowering the blood pressure (James Duke, 1983).5. Extract from Moringa leaf lowers the blood sugar levels within a space of 3 hours, though less effectively than hypoglycemic drug, glibenclamide. The effects increase with larger doses (E.
