It seems that the peak experienced in 2007 saw not only highlevels but also recorded the most unit transactions for the BrisInner City� At a time when housing and transportation costs whigh levels, the inner city offered an enticing option not onhigh levels, the inner city offered an enticing option not onyoung professionals seeking the fast paced city lifestyleinvestors as a whole� During the year ending 2007, there weapproximate 4,669 transactions and the median unit price reaan impressive $380,000�
During 2008, only seven suburbs achieved a unit resalegrowth of over 12% per annum, as shown on the Top 15 Sugraph to the right� Newmarket lead the way with 13�2% mgrowth and was closely followed by Wilston, with 13�1%�suburbs that recorded high growth per annum were New(12�8%), Greenslopes (12�7%), Coorparoo (12Woolloongabba (12�4%) and New Farm (12�3%)�
By looking at the resale market from a wider perspective, it cdetermined which precincts in the inner Brisbane Areadetermined which precincts in the inner Brisbane Areaperforming well� The line graph to the right follows the mresale price by precinct over the past ten years� While the CBusiness District (CBD) units still command the highestprice, it is worth noting that the gap between the CBD units aninner ring units, which was at its greatest in 1999, has continushrink from 2006� Existing units in the north precinct are nowonly slightly lower than CBD units, with south, east andprecinct units grouped closely on another step below�
For investors however, price growth is often of more interessale price� By examining the Average Unit Price Growth grathe right, we find that during the past year the inner north prleads the way for the biggest increase in growth� During 200CBD was the precinct to experience the lowest growth, at 1�1register 6% average unit price growth for the year The inneregister 6% average unit price growth for the year� The inneprecinct leads the way with 10�9% average unit price growth d2008, followed by the inner north, with 10�8% and the inner swith 10�7%�
