National MSM Initiatives

1. National Comprehensive Prevention and Care Pilot Program among MSM. - Implemented in 61 cities in 2007-2009- Know epidemic, Promote testing and

condom use, Do Peer education and Linkage to treatment & care etc

2. Scaling up of National MSM Initiative - Since 2010 till now - Set sentinel surveillance system - Expand prevention and care service to 3000 counties/districts

Summary

• HIV continues to spread among MSM in China.

• China has made great efforts to expand effective measures targeting MSM, including peer education, condom promotion, HIV testing and ART.

• Although tremendous efforts made, China faces challenges of low intervention coverage and condom use among MSM;

Rolling out WHO KP guidelines

• Need local language guidelines for KP • Learn from what we are doing now,

strengthen the combination prevention strategy

• Demonstration studies are needed for implantation effectiveness

• MSM community involvement and motivated to play key role for epidemic control among them
