During this year’s Holy Week Noonday Worship services, guest speakers will join us to share what they have learned about God’s faithfulness during troubling times and suffering. During each time of worship you will hear portions of Isaiah’s text often referred to as the “Song of the Suffering Servant.” There will not be a Noonday worship service on Friday, March 30th. Instead, you are invited to come to the church anytime between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm to take part in “Stations of the Cross.” Various stations with artwork will be set up in Wesley Hall where you can meditate and pray as we mark the day of Christ’s crucifixion.

This year’s Easter Offering goes to Habitat for Humanity. The last home build was in 2016-2017 and we are planning one for 2019. 1st UMC has partnered

with this organization for more than 20 years. You can use the special envelopes provided on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday for this special offering. Please

On Maundy Thursday evening, we remember the last moments of Jesus before his trial and

crucifixion. It is a time to focus on the new commandment Jesus

gives us to “love one another.” This service will be in the Sanctuary.

Helping the Family Promise Mission Plans are already well underway for the next Family Promise Host Week. It’s coming up April 8th -15th. We have the best group of volunteers who make that happen but more help is always needed and appreciated. After all, it takes a LOT of folks to get the job done. If you can’t volunteer, here’s another way you can help the mission of Family Promise! Participate in the 5K or 1 Mile Resurrection Run on Saturday, March 31st at 8:30 am in Sandy Springs Park. Visit www.runsignup.com and search for “Resurrection Run” to register and learn more about this important fundraiser benefitting Family Promise. Special thanks to all the Brothers and Sisters in Christ who serve in His name. Have a blessed Easter.

UMW plans for 2018 by: Pat Cherry

The United Methodist Women of 1st UMC met on March 1st. Our leprechaun hostesses were Donna Doede and Beth Porter. The theme of the meeting was NOT YOUR MOTHER’S UMW!! We socialized and really got to know each other as questions were asked of each individual (If your house was on fire, what three things would you take? How did you meet your husband? Etc.) We also asked questions about how we view UMW (What Missions would you spend money and time to support? What group mission tours or visits interest you?) The responses will assist the board in developing plans for programs and activities for the remainder of the year.

All United Methodist women are members, so we invite you to attend.

The PURPOSE of UMW is as follows:

The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative

supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Next Meeting

Please consider joining this group of women in their efforts to fulfill the ideals incorporated in its purpose. Our next meeting is April 5th at 9:45 in room 152. This will be our Call to Prayer and Self-Denial. Rev. Sarah Slack will be our speaker.
