Living in a different time of the gypsies, two teenage girls learn and teach us how to smile. Carmen sells furniture in a flea market in Madrid and Lola is a teenage greengrocer. Despite the conservative environment of the Roma community where they grew up, they fall in love and thus begin to plan a future together, despite the denial of their society. A passionate film that toys with cultural biases, Carmen and Lola is a source of inspiration for all generations to come.

Diciembre de 1965, auge de la Guerra Fría, el comandante Ernesto Che Guevara desaparece misteriosamente del escenario público mundial. Con identidad falsa y rostro transformado, el revolucionario argentino burla la vigilancia de la CIA y la curiosidad de la KGB. Se esconde en Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, y posteriormente en Praga, esperando que el servicio de inteligencia cubano le prepare su próximo destino. Tres ex agentes secretos que lo acompañaron en este trayecto revelan por primera vez los detalles de la operación.

December 1965, in the heyday of the Cold War, Ernesto Che Guevara disappears from the international public scene. Under a fake identity and with a transformed face, the Argentinian guerrilla commander fools the CIA and hides in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, and afterwards in Prague. Meanwhile, the Cuban intelligence services prepares his next destiny. Three former Cuban Secret service agents that accompanied Che in this trip reveal for the first time all the details of this operation.

Marcos and Ana have been married for twenty five years. With the departure of their only son off to college abroad, the couple falls into a deep existential crisis. Ihjãc camina en la oscuridad, su cuerpo sudoroso y con miedo. Un canto distante llega a través de las palmeras. La voz de su padre le llama desde una cascada: es el momento de organizar el funeral para que el espíritu pueda partir a la villa de los muertos. El duelo debe cesar. Ihjãc huye a la ciudad, negando su deber y escapando del proceso crucial que lo convertirá en un chamán. Lejos de su pueblo y su cultura, se enfrenta a la realidad de ser un indígena en el Brasil contemporáneo.

There are no spirits or snakes tonight and the forest around the village is quiet. Fifteen-year-old Ihjãc has nightmares since he lost his father. He is an indigenous Krahô from the north of Brazil. Ihjãc walks into darkness, his sweaty body moves with fright. A distant chant comes through the palm trees. His father’s voice calls him to the waterfall: it’s time to organize the funerary feast so the spirit can depart to village of the dead. The mourning must cease. Denying his duty and in order to escape a crucial process of becoming a shaman, Ihjãc runs away to the city. Far from his people and culture, he faces the reality of being indigenous in contemporary Brazil.

Chola and Football are a couple of street dogs that live in “Los Reyes”, the oldest skatepark in Santiago, Chile. A microcosm is organized around them, composed of things, animals and young adolescents in conflict with an adult world that they reject but are forced to be a part of. In this fairy-tale-like film, the camerawork centers almost entirely on the subtle interaction between the two dogs, as they play with a ball, a stick, a stone and each other.

During the summer of 1990 in Chile, a small group of families lives in an isolated community right below the Andes, building a new world away from the urban excesses, with the emerging freedom that followed the recent end of the dictatorship. In this time of change and reckoning, 16-year-old Sofía and Lucas, and 10-year-old Clara, neighbours in this dry land, struggle with parents, first loves, and fears, as they prepare a big party for New Year’s Eve. Cuba, early 80s. Yuli does not want to dance, he doesn’t want to wear tights and ballet slippers, he wants to be a footballer, like Pele. His father forces him to attend the national school of ballet and ensures that he finishes his education. Later on Yuli is sent off to a ballet boarding school. He learns to cope with his loneliness, and takes refuge in dancing, becoming the outstanding dancer of his generation. After winning the gold medal at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne, the English National Ballet offers him the role of principal dancer: the beginning of a unique career. Yuli will have to decide whether he follows the path his father imposed on him, or finds his own way through his love for dancing.

Pablo tiene 40 años, está casado y tiene dos hijos maravillosos. Es un devoto cristiano evangélico, todo un ejemplo a seguir, hasta el momento que su perfecta vida tradicional se desmorona cuando se enamora de otro hombre. Pablo encuentra su relación en conflicto con sus creencias, y su vida se convierte en un infierno de represión intolerante cuando su familia y la iglesia deciden hacer lo que sea para “curarlo”, forzandole a eliminar su deseo a través de terapia.

Pablo is a 40-year-old married father of 2 wonderful children. A role model and a practicing evangelical Christian, his seemingly perfect life begins to fall apart when he falls in love with a man. Pablo finds his feelings in conflict with beliefs. And his life becomes a hell of repressive intolerance when his family and his church decide to do whatever it takes to “cure him”, forcing Pablo to suppress his urges through therapy.

In the wake of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, Malin, a Russian literature professor at The University of Havana, is sent to translate for Cuban doctors treating children sent from the USSR for medical treatment. Torn from the abstract world of academia and forced into the relentlessly real world of medicine, Malin becomes so entrenched in the lives of the Chernobyl Children that he doesn’t notice his own family’s suffering. He must find a way to overcome his depression and go back to his wife and children.

Ana da a luz en un hospital de la localidad, y todo sale bien, excepto por sus papeles - su registro no aparece en la computadora - una pérdida temporal de información causada por un error técnico. En tan solo unos días, Ana se ve atrapada en la ineficiencia del sistema: no aparecer en la computadora significa no tener seguro social, ni residencia ni bebe. Ana es brutalmente forzada a dejar a su niña recién nacida en el hospital, sin derecho a visitarla, hasta que todo se solucione. Legalmente Ana no existe. El 26 de febrero de 1992, El Ministerio Interior de La República de Eslovenia eliminó a 25,671 de sus ciudadanos del sistema. La mayoría aún no puede recuperar su estatus legal.

Ana gives birth at the local hospital and everything goes well, except for her paperwork – her file is not on the computer - a temporary data loss probably caused by a software glitch. Within a few days, Ana is entangled in a web of bureaucracy: not being in the computer system means no social security, no permanent address and no baby. She is brutally forced to leave her baby girl alone at the hospital without the right to visit her until everything is sorted out. Legally, she doesn’t exist. On February 26th, 1992, the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia erased 25,671 of its own nationals. The majority are still unable to regain their legal status.

Drawing from hundreds of hours of footage, filmmaker Rudy Valdez shows the aftermath of his sister Cindy’s 15-year incarceration for conspiracy charges related to crimes committed by her deceased ex-boyfriend - something known, in legal terms, as “the girlfriend problem.” Valdez’s method of coping with this tragedy is to film his sister’s family for her, both the everyday details and the milestones - moments Cindy herself can no longer share in. But in the midst of this nightmare, Valdez finds his voice as both a filmmaker and activist, and he and his family begin to fight for Cindy’s release during the last months of the Obama administration’s clemency initiative. A couple of kids from Portobelo Colon, Panama, discover the music genre known as “Calypso”. In an attempt to recover their identity, and despite the general apathy towards culture and tradition, they begin rehearsals for the big opening gala, where the new generation of Calypsonians will be presented. The last standing calypsonians of the golden age, Lord Panama, Ringing Bell and Mighty Sparrow, open the curtain for this new generation of Calypsonians.

En uno de sus trabajos arqueológicos, viaja a la Isla de Taboga, y descubre un sitio de entierro maldecido por el antiguo Hechicero Pakama; cuyo sortilegio le arrastra a la locura y muerte en su alrededor. Maldecido y perseguido, busca la liberación del hechizo por medio de rituales de magia blanca, aunque no sin antes confrontar las consecuencias de sus acciones del pasado.

Adrian Armando, an archaeologist, is heavily in debt to Dany Casasola, a fearful dealer of archaeological artifacts and leader of the The Jackals Gang. During one of his archeological expeditions he travels to Taboga Island, and discovers a burial site cursed by the ancient Sorcerer Pakama, whose spell drags him to madness and death around him. Cursed and persecuted, he seeks to rid himself of the spell through rituals of white magic, confronting the consequences of his actions.

LOS NIETOS DEL JAZZSeis jóvenes del barrio de San Felipe aprovechan una oportunidad única en sus vidas cuando se enfrentan al reto de grabar por primera vez sus propias canciones originales en un estudio profesional, con músicos invitados de la talla de Idania Dowman, Joshue Ashby y el Maestro Carlos Garnett. La película muestra los temas musicales en primer plano además de las altas y bajas del proceso creativo del grupo, la primera gira internacional a Costa Rica y también sus desafíos personales: tres de los músicos pierden sus hogares en el incendio de la Casa Boyacá.

Six young men from the San Felipe neighborhood are given the opportunity of a lifetime, to record their first album at a professional music studio accompanied by renowned musicians such as Idania Dowman, Joshue Ashby and Carlos Garnett. The documentary follows the ups and downs of the creative process, the band’s first international tour in Costa Rica and their own personal challenges: three of the musicians lose their homes during the “Casa Boyaca” fire.

SHARKWATER EXTINCTIONHoy en día, más de 90 países han prohibido la pesca de aleta de tiburón y el comercio de derivados de tiburón, gracias al trabajo del cineasta Rob Stewart, quien expuso la devastadora situación a nivel mundial, inspirando la creación de grupos conservacionistas, y cambios a la ley pública en el mundo. A pesar del progreso, Rob se dió cuenta que aún se sigue cazando a los tiburones. Entre 100 y 150 millones de tiburones son matados al año, incluyendo especies en peligro de extinción. La población de tiburones ha disminuido más del 90% en los últimos 40 años. Sin el mayor depredador del océano, los ecosistemas marinos están siendo destruidos indiscriminadamente.

Today more than 90 countries have banned shark finning or the trade of shark products, thanks to the work of filmmaker Rob Stewart, who shined a light on the devastating issue of shark finning, inspiring the creation of hundreds of conservation groups, changing laws and public policy worldwide. However, even with all the progress made, Rob found that sharks are still being fished to extinction. 100 – 150 million sharks are killed every year, including endangered species. Shark populations have dropped more than 90% in the last 40 years. Without the oceans’ main predator, marine ecosystems are being destroyed beyond repair.

The Biggest Little Farm follows two dreamers and a dog on an odyssey to bring harmony to both their lives and their land. John and Molly make a choice that takes them out of the city and onto 200 acres in the foothills of Ventura County, naively endeavoring to build one of the most diverse farms of its kind in complete coexistence with nature. The land they’ve chosen, however, is utterly depleted of nutrients and suffering from a brutal drought. The film chronicles eight years of daunting work as they attempt to create the utopia they seek, planting 10,000 orchard trees and over 200 different crops, and bringing in animals of every kind – including an unforgettable pig named Emma and her best friend, Greasy the rooster.
