DDF is a distribution and connection device between digital multiplex, and between a digital multiplex device and a program-controlled exchange device or a non-voice service device.
The loops in DDF formed by the branch circuits of receiving and transmitting ( also named as loop, system or E1)

2. Technical terms in ODF
Patch cord( Fiber jumper): a optical cable with adapter on both ends;
Tail fiber (Pigtail fiber) a optical cable with adapter on one end;
Adapter: is the devices that make optical connection between tail fibers and patch cords. FC/PC adapters are usually used in ODF, SC/PC adapters are used in some ODF.

MDF Product Profile
Main functions of MDF: connection, testing, protection, give alarm;
MDF is a connection and protection device in the local communication lines. One end of MDF is connected with cables of local communication lines, another end is connected to the subscribers lines of exchange . MDF have functions, such as connection with internal and external lines cables, providing protection to lines, giving alarm and testing lines.

4. Correlative Definition for MDF
Main Distribution Frame (MDF)is a device for connection and protection in the local communication lines, the external lines of MDF connect the copper-core twisted pair local call cables and the internal lines connect the subscriber lines of telecom exchange or access equipment .
Double-side jumper MDF: is composed of back-to-back horizontal and vertical rows, in which the horizontal rows are used to install exchange side terminal blocks, and the vertical rows are used to install cable side terminal blocks.
Single-side jumper MDF: has both the jumper terminals of external and internal lines set on the same side. A single-side jumper MDF is constructed by terminal frames and corresponding horizontal and vertical wiring troughs, and can be lined in multiple columns. The cable side terminal blocks and exchange side terminal blocks can be either separately installed on different terminal frames or mixed installed on the same terminal frames.
Cable side terminal block: is used for terminating external cables and connecting jumpers, and also can be equipped with a protective unit (generally known as vertical terminal block, protective-testing connecting block, protective connecting block, external cable terminal block , and so on ).
Exchange side terminal block: is used for terminating intra-office cables and connecting jumpers, and is able to implement test (generally known as horizontal terminal block, testing connecting block, internal cable terminal connecting block , and so on ) .
Protective unit: is used to prevent injury on the operator and damage on equipment caused by over-voltage and over-current, also known as protector.

Frame: can be sorted as double-sided frame, single-sided frame, and wall-mounted frame according to cabling mode or installation mode.
Cabinet :can be sorted as double-sided cabinet, single-sided cabinet, and wall-mounted cabinet according to cabling mode or installation mode.
Cable side terminal block: can be sorted as 10/20 pair terminal strip, 100/200 pair terminal block according to distribution capacity;
Can be sorted as welding connection type, wrapping connecting type, half IDC and half wrapping connection type and IDC connection type according to connection mode;
Can be sorted as stationary type, revolving type according to structure;
Exchange side terminal block: can be sorted as 8/16 pair terminal strip, 128/256 pair terminal block according to distribution capacity;
Can be sorted as welding connection type, wrapping connecting type, half IDC and half wrapping connection type and IDC connection type according to connection mode;
Can be sorted as stationary type, revolving type according to structure;
Protective unit: can be sorted as gas discharge tube type and semiconductor arrester type according to the type of discharge tube;
Can be sorted as non-self-recovery type and self-recovery type according to the characteristic of over-current device.


MDF Product Profile
Alarm system: when protective unit is plugged in the cable side terminal block properly, it connects with grounding terminal and alarm signal terminal; connect every single-column alarm in series by using the wires in the back of MDF and then connect to the general alarm, thus a completed alarm system is formed.
IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) tool: the special tool used to terminate the cables to corresponding terminals, which can be sorted as wrapping connection gun and IDC tool;
Testing plug: is the plug-in unit used to testing internal and external lines;
Open-circuit plug: is the plastic insulating unit used to disconnect the connection of internal and external lines;
Ladder: is used for maintenance, which can be sorted as movable ladder, slide ladder and high stool according to structure.

Double-sided frame F: applicable to large office or equipment room with sufficient space;
Wall-mounted frame GQ: applicable to enterprise or the office where MDF need to be installed on walls;
Cabinet B/C: applicable to small capacity office or equipment where there are distribution frames and other cabinet-type devices.

4.Cable side terminal block FA8-123 and exchange side terminal block STO-128
FA8-123 is a 10-pair cable side terminal block ;
The protective unit is unplugged from the front of terminal block, and the visual alarm is display in front of the terminal block too, which is convenient for troubleshooting;
introduce cables from the back of the terminal block, connect jumpers on both side , insert or remove wires with IDC tool in front the terminal blocks.
STO-128 is a 8-pair exchange side terminal block ;

5.Protective unit FA9-173 and FA9-172
FA9-173 gas discharge tube protective unit: is the plug-in unit with over-current and over-voltage protection functions and FS alarm function , it can be used in FA8-123 cable side terminal block.
FA9-172 semiconductor arrester protective unit: is the plug-in unit with over-current and over-voltage protection functions and alarm function , it can be used in FA8-123 cable side terminal block.

6.Testing cord and open-circuit plug
Testing cord: is the plug-in unit used to test the internal and external lines. A pair of clips are connected to the external lines tester, the other pair of clips are connected to internal lines tester or telephone set.
Open-circuit plug: is a plastic insulating unit used to disconnect the connection of the internal or external lines on MDF. It can be used in STO128 exchange side terminal blocks.
