1.4 SMS

1.4.1 Text messages are displayed and stored differently in anAndroid device; how so and what's the benefit?

Difference:

In a traditional system, text messages received and sent are saved in the Inbox andSent folders respectively. In an Android system, text messages exchanged with the

same contact are grouped in the same thread.

Benefit:

Messaging in an Android phone is similar to chat using instant messaging servicessuch as MSN Messenger. It helps you browse your chat history more quickly andconveniently.

1.4.2 How do I send a text message?

Touch Messaging > New message.

Enter a mobile phone number in the To field, touch the composition text box to startentering your message, and then touch Send.

Touch and hold the message to be deleted until the Message options menu isdisplayed, then select Delete message.

To delete all messages, touch > Delete thread.

1.4.8 What is the function of locking a message?

A locked message will not be deleted when you delete messages in batches.

If you delete a batch of messages among which some are locked, the confirmationdialog box will provide an option for you to choose to delete locked messages.

1.4.9 How many text messages can be saved on my phone?

The total number of messages saved on your phone is dependent on the phone

storage.

Touch > Settings > SD card & phone storage > Internal phone storage.

A thread can contain up to 999 text messages. However, by default threads are set tocontain 200 text messages.

To set the number of text messages that threads can contain, touch Messaging >

> Settings, choose Delete old messages and then touch Text message limit,

and set the text message limit.

You can forward any one of the messages in a thread. Touch and hold the messageyou want to forward until the Message options menu is displayed. Touch Forward.

message? How can I solve this problem?

If less than 10% of your phone memory is free you cannot receive a multimediamessage.

Solution: Delete unnecessary files from your phone to free up memory.

If data services are disabled, you cannot send or receive multimedia messages.

2 Common Settings2.1 Forced Upgrade

The forced upgrade method is as follows:

Note: After the forced upgrade, all user data (contacts, text messages, andmultimedia messages) will be lost.

1. Go to http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do and searchfor the latest U8350 software version, download it to a local drive, anduncompress it to extract the upgrade file.

2. In the SD card root directory, create a new folder named dload. Copy theextracted upgrade file UPDATE.APP to the dload folder.

3. Insert the SD card into the mobile phone.

4. When the mobile phone is powered off, press the Volume +, End, and Powerkeys at the same time to initiate the forced upgrade.

5. After the upgrade is complete, restart the phone.

2.2 How do I install the ADB driver?

1. Use the data cable to connect the phone to a PC. The PC will display a wizard.

2. Follow the wizard to install the ADB driver, as shown in the following figures.
