Of 1,080 classifiable tumours of the skin (93.6%), 45.7% were epithelial 48.9% were mesenchymal and 5.4% were melanotic. The average age of dogs with tumours was 8.7 years, of dogs with epithelial tumours 9.1 years and that of dogs with mesenchymal tumours 8-1 years. Tumours of the circumanal gland and haemangiopericytomas occurred at an advanced age viz. 10.1 and 10.5 years respectively, whereas histiocytomas ap- peared at an early age, viz. 5.1 years. Dogs with tumours of the circumanal gland were males in almost every case, lipomas and liposarcomas being more common in bitches. The various breeds showed the following predispositions : Spaniels to tumours of the sebaceous glands and histiocytomas, poodles to squamous-cell carcinomas and necrotizing epitheliomas (Malherbe’s epithelioma) , Collies and Alsatians to keratinizing epitheliomas, and Boxers to sarcomas, haemangioperi- cytomas, haernangiomas and haemangiosarcomas and mast-cell tumours.
