DEFINITION
The Hungarian Water Information System is the system of the registration and the analysis of the basic water management data, which is attentive to the
public needs regarding the water. The System also handles the data related to the decision making about the public needs and it can also exchange
information with the partner information systems.

BASIC WATER MANAGEMENT DATA
The basic water management data are the data in regard of the water usage, protection of water usage possibilities, mitigation of water damages, further on the construction of hydraulic works, implementation of any water related
works - for the need of public water management tasks – which are the under the regulation of the Water Management Law, including all descriptive or
chronological data, which help to acknowledge and discover the quality of water, the state of hydraulic constructions and the evaluation of their
condition.

Maintenance, restoration and homogenizing of the previous, large amount hydrological time series (1900-2009).
Online, continuous, traversable data exchange has to be set up for the needed type of objects (first with OKIR)
The homogenization of the relational data baseand national spatial informatics systems has to be done.
The replication of the large amount of spatial data serialshas to be done more efficiently like now.
The planning and the preparation of the decision making onthe management level, has to be supported more efficiently.

DEVELOPMENTS, OUR PLANS
Ensuring the on-line data collection via the internet (providing data);
The needed reconstruction of the VIZIR data-based system taking into consideration of the technical and extraction purposes as well;
Repair and homogenizing of the large amount hydrographical time series data;
The possible optimal integration of the document-based VIR system and the SQL server-based relation system;
Creating and improving the adoption of an integrated, spatial informatics and basic data base system (in the frame of ‘Mapping of Flood Risk and Danger’ project);
Expanding the local sewage information system with the constructions of water supply and canalization (water utility system).
