FirewallConsiderationsiLincdoesnotrequireanychangestoyourfirewallsettings.Theservershouldtypicallybeinstalledina“DMZ”orothernetworklocationwhereport80isopentoit,justasyouwouldtreatatypicalwebserver.However,ifyouareusingVoIPand/oriLinclivevideo,youmaywanttoopenoneUDPportonyourfirewalltoimproveperformance.iLincwillattempttouseUDPonport11730foraudioandvideo,andthusopeningthisportoutboundfromtheserverwillimproveperformanceofthesetools.Iftheportisavailable,theiLincclientwillautomaticallyuseitbydefault.Iftheportisnotavailable,theclientwillautomaticallyuseport80forVoIPandVideo.Thesefeatureswillstillworkonport80,butwillusemorebandwidthandmayhavehigherlatencyandreducedoverallquality,insomecases.

SecurityConsiderationsiLincsupportsbothSSLandAESdataencryption,forboththe“frontend’webpagesaswellasforallin‐sessiondata.BothSSLandAESrequirethatyouobtainandinstallavalid“SSLCertificate”fromatrustedauthority,onyouriLincserverpriortoinstallation.Informationonhowtodosocanbefoundinyouroperatingsystemdocumentation.IfyourequireassistancewiththesestepsyoucancontactiLincSupport.
