The International Liver Transplant Society’s (ILTS) mission is to “promote and disseminate

multidisciplinary scientific advances in liver transplantation worldwide.” Our Society is

comprised of surgeons, hepatologists, anesthesiologists, critical care specialists, nursing specialists, basic scientists

and healthcare providers who focus on liver transplantation all over the world. Since 1990, ILTS members have

been focused on pursuing the high standard of care and advancing the field of liver transplantation by recognizing

that all specialists from all areas of the world can contribute to making liver transplantation better.

va n g u a R d C o M M I T T e eOur Vanguard Committee is charged with engaging young physicians, surgeons and scientists (42 years of age or younger) who have an interest in liver transplantation and encourage their involvement in ILTS. The committee develops scientific and educational initiatives to prepare the next generation for leadership roles in their field and ILTS. The Vanguard Committee is charged with initiatives such as:

• Developing sessions at our Annual Congress that are focused on topics that are specifically important to younger members in the field. These include debate sessions, grand round talks and social events

• Selecting two Vanguard Award recipients

• Working with the ILTS Website Committee to develop areas of interest for young physicians and surgeons such as scholarship links, Facebook presence, discussions and new training opportunities
