온돌의 구조

온돌온돌은 방 바닥을 따뜻하게 하는 한국의 전통적인 가옥 난방 방법이다. 방구들이라고도 한다. 한옥의 아궁이에서 불을 피우고, 아궁이에서 생성

된 열기를 머금은 뜨거운 연기가 방바닥에 깔린 구들장 밑을 지나면서 난방이 되고, 그 연기는 구들장 끝 굴뚝으로 빠져나가는 방식의 난방법이

다. 시대와 지방에 따라서 온돌 설계 구조에 약간씩의 차이를 보이고 있다. 가장 기본적인 구조는 방 밖에 있는 아궁이에서 불을 피우고 그 아궁

이의 열기가 구들장 아래에 있는 고래를 타고 밖에 만들어둔 굴뚝으로 빠져나가는 구조를 가지고 있다. 현대 한국의 뜨거운 물이 방 바닥을 순환

하는 방식의 기초가 됬다.

Ondol Ondal is a direct underfloor heating system used in Korea for over two thousand years. There are 2 com-

mon methods of heat generation. The first method uses heat from a fireplace in a lowered floor kitchen.

The lowered floor allows hot air to circulate beneath the house. Another method uses a firebox that’s acces-

sible from outside the home. Because of the floor’s warmth, Koreans enjoy sleeping and sitting on the floor.

Today, most apartments use a modern ondal. Temperature controlled heated water is circulated underneath

the floor.

바닥을 향하게 둔다.

상Table [sang]

상차림 상차림은 5첩 반상의 외상 차림을 기본으로 반찬의 수에 따라 조절하

는데, 밥과 국은 앞줄에 놓고, 그 뒤에 장류와 반찬을 놓는다. 오른쪽에

육류와 더운 음식을 놓고 왼쪽에 채소와 찬 음식을 놓으며, 뒷줄 가운

데 김치를 놓는다. 수저는 오른쪽에 놓되, 숟가락은 앞에, 젓가락은 뒤

쪽에 놓으며, 국물이 있는 음식과 장류는 가운데 놓는다.

Dining Table SettingThe ordinary Korean dining table set is 5-dish table

setting. It features cooked rice and soup placed on

the frist line and side dishes placed on the next line.

Sauce such as soy sauce is arranged on the middle.

Meat and warm dishes should be placed on the right

side of the table and vegetable and cold dishes are

placed on the left side of the table. Kimchi is placed

on the middle of back row. Spoon and chopstichs

are placed on the right side. Spoon is arranged in

front and chopstichs are on the next.
