On the returnjourney pedal carefully down the same road forabout 2 km where, with great care, you take atrack that leads to a small clearing at the end

obbliga a qualche tratto a piedi.Consigliato solo agli esperti.

MONTE FAUSIOR TRAILFrom the town centre you quickly reach Santelfollowing Provincial road No. 64 or an alternativeroute along the “Ardito Alberto” path.Near the Santa Libera church, take the steepdirt track on the right which climbs up to 1360m with short but demanding stretches. Continueacross a long fairly gentle stretch after the left-hand fork for Val dei Brenzi (from where you canreach Spormaggiore) then go on to another

fork in the road signposted “Pragrande” on theleft and “Campedel” on the right.

There are two possibilities:> Follow the signs for “Pragrande”, after ashort downhill stretch you come to the“Scaletta” path that rises steeply to “FontanaBianca”, north of the burgh of Fai. The roadis very panoramic but exposed and in a fewplaces you need to dismount and walk.Recommended for experts only.

> The second possibility is to go straight on toride a wide ring on the top of Monte Fausiorwhich takes you on a good ForestryCommission road to the Campedel hutnestling in a large clearing. From here youcan go as far as the Croce di Fai, from whereyou can admire an incredible panorama ofthe town and the Adige valley. You cansign the “summit log” kept at the foot of thecross. Go back the same way along theForestry Commission road then continuedownhill to join the road previously doneuphill and reach Santel in a few minutes. The descent is quite challenging, but theroad surface is good.

From the town square of Spormaggiore followthe signs for “Selvapiana”; after about 20 minutesyou reach Al Pont: cross the bridge over theSporeggio torrent (the tarmac finishes here); gostraight on along the initial stretch of the “Valledelle Seghe” to a junction with a crucifix on theright.Take the uphill track on the right to “Malga Pra’del Giovo”, passing by the typical Maso Simonwith its bee hives, keep right (ignore the forksignposted as a spring) and in about 30 minutesyou reach the clearing called “Pian del Benon”(rest place).Descend by the same itinerary until just beforeMaso Simon you take the left for a steep descentthat quickly takes you to “Pont” (attention: thedescent is short but difficult).
