Un poco de historia…

Ser diferente

• Históricamente el ser humano ha tenido conflicto con “ser diferente”

• La sociedad normal elimina al sujeto atípico.

• Existieron políticas de exterminación y segregación de individuos que nacían y no eran considerados sanos y útiles o por alguna circunstancia de la vida perdían su capacidad de ser “útiles” a la sociedad.

Exterminación y segregación

• Los Espartanos : Tenían una filosofía de mente sana en cuerpo sano

• Los Griegos, Romanos y Alemanes exterminaron • Los judíos segregaron por diferencias religiosas.

Tenían el concepto “Hijos del pecado” • El cristianismo introdujo cambios en las políticas

de exterminación y segregación. • La edad media y la etapa del oscurantismo

manifestaron sus propias prácticas de segregación y exterminio.

Base legal…

• Segregación de estudiantes con impedimentos en clases separadas para minimizar el estrés de los docentes y estudiantes.

• Muchos estudiantes con impedimentos nunca fueron a la escuela.

Sección 508 (Rehabilitation Act of 1973 )

• In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology (EIT) accessible to people with disabilities. Inaccessible technology interferes with an ability to obtain and use information quickly and easily. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, open new opportunities for people with disabilities, and encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The law applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology. Under Section 508 (29 U.S.C. ‘794 d), agencies must give disabled employees and members of the public access to information that is comparable to access available to others.

Web Accessibility Initiative

• The mission is to lead the Web to its full potential to be accessible, enabling people with disabilities to participate equally on the Web.

Componentes de la Accesibilidad

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) develops Web accessibility guidelines for the different components:

• Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG) addresses authoring tools

• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) addresses Web content, and is used by developers, authoring tools, and accessibility evaluation tools

• User Agent Accessibility Guidelines (UAAG) addresses Web browsers and media players, including some aspects of assistive technologies
