DESIGN FOR CHANGE
We felt that spitting after chewing pan and gutka was a terrible problem. Be it
The bus drivers of our school, painters, even uncles and parentadults who were used to chewing these substances did not hesitate to spit out on the road as they were driving or working. This is an unbearable sight and also makes our roads dirty. So we from grade V decided to work on this problem.
We had to take the permission from the director and the principal to address the school drivers and conductors. We got our posters made and approved by our teachers. We had rehearsedin Hindi and used simple and polite language to talk to the drivers and conductors.
We we took part in their daily assembly and put forth our point across.
They heard us out patiently and even helped us to paste posters on the buses.
Many promisedus to stop chewing gutka and spitting on the road. We visited nearby shops and otherschools and distributed posters designed by us. Our relatives who had the habit also appreciated our effort and promised us to get over this habit.
The group involved the following children :
Shubh Mantri, Chirag Mathur, Harsh Nehlani , Divyash Sanghi , Sahil Kandhari and Dhruv Mehta.
