You have 225 minutes to solve the practical exercises.

Devices allowed for the exam: computer assigned to the candidate, paper, pen, pencil, ruler, sealed notepaper.

You can take notes on the internal sides of the exercise sheet and the notepaper, these should be submitted at the end of the exam but their content will not be evaluated.

The exercises can be solved in any order.

Please pay attention to frequent saving (every 10 minutes); it is suggested that you save your work every time you start a new exercise.

You should save your exam work in the exam directory that corresponds to your name. Check that this directory is accessible; if it is not accessible, notify the supervising teacher at the beginning of the exam.

Save your works in the exam directory and at the end of the exam check that every solution is in the given directory because only those solutions can be evaluated. Check that the files to be submitted are readable because files that cannot be opened cannot be evaluated.

The source files can be found in the exam directory.

In the case of programs that do not support setting sizes in cm you can use the conversion factor 1 cm = 40 px.

It is suggested that you read through the exercises first then solve the individual exercise parts one by one.

If your computer has technical problems, indicate it to the supervising teacher. The fact of indication and the observed problem will be recorded. The lost time will be added to the duration of the exam. If the problem is not of computer nature, the correcting teacher should take the description of the case in the record into consideration. (The system administrator cannot help the candidate with the solution of the exam.)

At the end of the exam on the first page of the exam document you should indicate the number and name of files created and submitted by you and located in the exam directory and its subdirectories. When finishing the exam, do not leave the room until you have done so and have shown it to the supervising teacher.

1. Biometric identification In biometric identification a person is identified based on him/herself (e.g. fingerprint), not

based on what they know (e.g. password) or what they have (e.g. bank card). In this exercise you have to create an informational material about biometric identification.

1. Import the text of the informational material into the word processor from file bio.txt, which is UTF-8 encoded. Save your work as biometric in the default format of the program. Do not use unnecessary spaces or empty paragraphs in the created document.

2. The page size of the informational material is A4, the orientation is portrait, set all four page margins to 2 cm.

3. Use the following settings in the informational material unless the exercise specifies it otherwise.

a. The font type is Times New Roman (Nimbus Roman), the font size is 11 points. b. The paragraphs are justified, use single line spacing, the indent of the first line

of the paragraphs is 0.8 cm. c. With the exception of the introduction after the title, the bulleted list, the

numbered list and the part laid out with tabs the spacing after the paragraphs is 6 points.

4. The font size of the title of the informational material is 18 points, the font size of the subtitles is 14 points. Set the font style of the title to bold and the font style of the subtitles to bold and small caps. There should be no spacing before the title but it should be followed by a spacing of 18 points. The spacing before and after the subtitles is 18 and 12 points, respectively. Set the left indent of the title and the subtitles to 0 cm.

5. Set the font style of the introduction after the title to italics, the left indent to 2 cm and put a grey line of width 6 points to the left of it. Set a spacing of 12 points before the paragraph after the introduction.

6. Lay out the pictures that follow the first subtitle using a table that has two rows, four columns and no borders. Set the height of the rows of the table to 3 cm. Insert pictures 11.jpg, 12.jpg, 13.jpg, 14.jpg, 21.jpg, 22.jpg, 23.jpg and 24.jpg into the cells in the order shown in the example, align them centred horizontally and set their height to 2.5 cm keeping the aspect ratio. Use a spacing of 12 points after the paragraph before the table and before the paragraph after the table.

7. Use symbol “” or picture bullet.png as bullet in the list that follows the table according to the example.

8. Use a numbered list after the second subtitle according to the example. 9. Ensure that the third subtitle gets on a new page. 10. Lay out the part after the third subtitle using tabs. The tab positions are 1 cm, 3.5 cm, 6 cm,

8 cm, 11 cm and 13.5 cm, respectively. Each tab position should be aligned left, they should be connected by dotted lines. Use bold font style in the first line.

11. In the part laid out with tabs insert a footnote with reference symbol “*” after keyword “FAR” with the following text: “The FAR (False Accept Rate) metrics indicates the number of correct identifications per one false.” Pay attention to the font format of the footnote being the same as the font format of the main text.

2. El Camino El Camino or The Way of Saint James is a several hundred kilometres long pilgrims’ way

that passes through the northern area of Spain to reach the destination, Santiago de Compostela. You have to create a presentation to introduce this way based on the description and the

example below. You should use text file caminosource.txt, which is UTF-8 encoded, and files certificate.jpg, stjames.jpg, map.jpg, passport.jpg in the solution of the exercise.

1. Use a presentation program to create document camino, which consists of 4 slides, in the default file format of the program using the listed sources.

2. The size of the slides of the presentation is 34 cm × 19 cm. Make the following general settings on the slides.

a. The background colour of the slides is dark blue, RGB code (6, 37, 93). b. The font type of the text on the slides is Arial (Nimbus Sans) and the font colour

is light yellow, RGB code (255, 225, 97) where the exercise does not specify it otherwise. The font sizes are 60, 46 and 23 points according to the example. The font style of the titles is bold.

c. Display the title of the slides as shown in the example. 3. Type in the text of the slides according to the example or copy it from file

caminosource.txt. 4. Format text “The Way of Saint James” on the title slide using a serif font type. 5. Create the drawing of the scallop shell shown in the example on the first slide using the

description below. a. Use rectangle and triangle elements to create the drawing. b. The border and fill colour of the elements used in the drawing is yellow,

RGB code (224, 184, 9). (In the example the border colour is highlighted only to facilitate the creation of the drawing.)

c. The width of the rectangles forming the lines is 0.5 cm for each. The height of the rectangles is 5.5 cm, 7.5 cm, 9.5 cm, 11 cm and 12.5 cm, respectively. The height of the triangle at the bottom of the shell is 1 cm, its width is 2.5 cm.

d. Create four rectangles first. Rotate the rectangles through 18, 36, 54 and 72, respectively. Fit the rectangles so that their ends overlap according to the example.

e. Copy and reflect the four rectangles created, then insert the longest rectangle in the middle. Create another copy of the smallest rectangle and place it perpendicularly to the longest according to the example.

f. Insert the drawn triangle at the bottom of the shape.

g. Group the elements of the created drawing, copy it, then rotate and reflect it according to the example. Align the two drawings centred vertically, the tips of the shells should be at the margins of the slide. (If you could not create the two drawings then insert picture shell.png and perform the task on it.)

h. Place the drawings, the title and the subtitle according to the example so that the text is in front of the drawings.

6. Convert the text on the second slide into a bulleted list, the bullet symbol is character “”. Insert picture stjames.jpg on the right of the slide according to the example and set its height to 10 cm keeping the aspect ratio. Align the picture centred vertically relative to the slide. (Pay attention not to change the given font size.)

7. Insert picture map.jpg on the third slide and set its height to 5.5 cm keeping the aspect ratio. Place the picture at a distance of 12 cm horizontally and 8 cm vertically from the top left corner of the slide. Place the texts around the picture according to the example using text boxes (frames). (Again, pay attention not to change the given font size and font type.)

8. Insert pictures certificate.jpg and passport.jpg on the fourth slide. Resize both pictures keeping the aspect ratio so that the width of certificate.jpg becomes 7.5 cm and the width of passport.jpg becomes 23 cm. Align both pictures at a distance of 8 cm vertically from the top left corner of the slide. Set the horizontal alignment of the pictures so that they do not cover each other and the texts.

9. Create animation for the first slide. The two drawings on it should appear simultaneously, automatically, with rotating animation. The title should appear automatically after the two drawings and the subtitle should appear after 1 second using an animation different from that of the drawings, in place.

3. Water Truck In the summer heat a water truck cooled and cleaned the streets of a town. The water delivery

rate, that is, the amount of water delivered per metre was controlled by the driver of the water truck in distinct stages during its route.

File waybill.txt contains the daily route of the water truck with the names of the streets, the distances covered on them and the position of the switch that controls water delivery. In the town the street names are unique, if a street name appears several times, it means that the water truck passed on at least a segment of it again.

Solve the following exercises using a spreadsheet processor. During the solution take the followings into consideration.

You can perform auxiliary calculations to the right of column M. Whenever possible, use a formula, function or reference in the solution to get a correct

result even if the source data are modified. There are parts in the exercise that use the results from a previous question. If you could

not solve the previous part completely, use its solution as it is, or enter a reasonable result and work on with that value. This way you can receive marks for that exercise part as well.

1. Import text file waybill.txt, which is tagged by tabs and has UTF-8 encoding, into the worksheet of the spreadsheet processor starting from cell A1. Save your work as journal in the default format of the spreadsheet processor.

The driver of the water truck can control the water delivery rate by a switch during the journey. The switch position is given in column D. The water delivery rate has several stages: 0 means no delivery, 3 means maximum water delivery. The amount of water delivered per metre corresponding to the switch positions can be found in the cells of range K1:L5.

Cells I2 and F2 contain the amount of water in the tank of the water truck upon departure. During the journey the amount of water in the tank decreases. If at the end of a street section the amount of water falls below the lower limit given in cell I3, then the driver fills 8000 litres into the tank there. (You can assume that the tank is never emptied completely on any road section.) 2. In the cells of range C3:C86 calculate the distance covered from the departure. 3. In the cells of range E3:E86 determine the amount of water delivered by the water truck on

the given street in litres using a formula that can be copied flawlessly. 4. In the cells of range F3:F86 calculate the amount of water left in the tank of the water truck

in litres after completing the given street section. Take into consideration that if the amount of water in the tank falls below the lower limit given in cell I3, then the driver fills 8000 litres into it.

5. In cell I4 determine the total distance covered by the water truck in kilometres on the given day using a formula. Set the format of the sum so that it does not contain decimal figures and display the result with unit “km”.

6. In cell I5 display the total amount of water delivered by the water truck in litres during its journey. Set the format of the result so that it does not contain decimal figures and display the result with unit “l”.

7. You have to determine the number of street sections that the vehicle passed without delivering water. In column G, display a “+” sign in the rows where the switch was in

8. Format the table according to the following description and the example. a. Set the thousands separation and the number of decimal figures in columns E,

F, I and L according to the example. b. Highlight the text in the cells of range A1:F1 and H2:H6 using bold font style. c. Display the contents of the cells of range A1:F1 according to the example. d. Use font style italics in the cells that contain calculated values. e. Align the contents of the cells of columns B:D centred horizontally. f. Set a thick border around ranges A1:F86 and H2:I6 and a thin border between

9. Create a Scatter (XY) chart on a separate worksheet that uses connected points to show the amount of water in the tank of the water truck as a function of distance covered.

Set upper limit of the scale of the vertical axis to 10,000 litres.

The chart should not contain a legend.

The title is “Amount of water in the tank”.

The label of the vertical and horizontal axis is “Litres” and “Distance covered”, respectively.

Use Arial (Nimbus Sans) font type and a font size of 14 points for the title and the labels of the axes of the chart.

4. Junkyard Presently there are 17 junkyards in Budapest, where people can turn in selectively collected

waste. The data of the junkyards and the list of waste types that can be turned in there are available.

1. Create a new database named junkyard. Import the files provided (yards.txt, collects.txt, types.txt) into the database with table names that correspond to the file names. The files are UTF-8 encoded text files tagged by tabs, their first line contains the field names. Upon creation set the appropriate types and the keys.

that lists the district and the address of the junkyards where “tyre” can be turned in. The alignment and the text of the title of the report and the text of the column headings should be according to the example below. The other characteristics of the report can be set freely. (2tyre)

3. The Danube divides the capital into two parts, Buda and Pest. Buda consists of districts I.,

II., III., XI., XII. and XXII., the other districts are in Pest. Create a query that displays the number of junkyards in Buda and in Pest. In the solution you may use the fact that there are 17 junkyards in Budapest. (3pestbuda)
