• ODIS was developed by the Okavango Research Institute to support the Okavango Delta Management Plan through access to data about the Delta for planning purposes.
• This was done by:
• Providing a central data access point.
• Ensuring compatibility of data formats
• Ensuring data integrity (correct, up-to-date, etc).
• A user friendly map viewing interface: ODIS
• and USER TRAINING.
ODIS was later upgraded to an on-line system with funding
from the Biokavango project: The ODIS website allows Data-
Searches, Interactive Mapping and Data Uploads by Users.
And a start was made under the OKACOM-TDA programme
to upgrade ODIS to a basin-wide system OBIS: OKAVANGO
BASIN INFORMATION SYSTEM.

• ODIS USER TRAINING will be used as a model
for OBIS user-training:
• user/stakeholder consultation in cooperation with
OKACOM and its partners
• hands-on workshops for problem solving.
