Que es el Calentamiento Global?
El calentamiento global se refiere al incremento de la temperatura promedio de la atmosfera yoceanos de nuestro planeta.
La opinión cientifica indica que la gran mayoría del calentamiento global observado en losúltimos 50 años obedece a actividades humanas.
El incremento en las emisiones de CO2 (Dioxido de Carbono) y otros gases que producen elefecto invernadero (GHGs) son el principal componente del calentamiento observado. Estosgases llegan a nuestra atmosfera a través de la utilización de combustibles fósiles,deforestación, etc. incrementando el efecto invernadero.
Modelos referenciados por el IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) predicen quela temperatura global puede incrementar entre 1.4 y 5.8 °C entre 1990 y el 2100.

Calentamiento Global
Las causas detalladas sobre el cambio climático continuan bajo rigurosos estudios, pero laopinión cientifica identifica a los gases que producen el efecto invernadero como la principalcausa del calentamiento actual.
El CO2 (Dioxido de Carbono) y el CH4 (Metano) al entrar en contacto con nuestra atmósferaterrestre, produce un calentamiento en la superficie de nuestro planeta. La tierra genera unefecto invernadero natural. Sin este efecto, su temperatura sería por lo menos 30°C más baja,lo cual la convertiría en un lugar inhabitable.
Sin embargo, un incremento desmedido de CO2 y CH4 elevaría la temperatura del planetadesestabilizandola.
Este calentamiento derrite el hielo en los polos. Como consecuencia de este proceso, el agua,resultado del derretimiento de los polos gana espacio sobre la tierra. Tanto el agua como latierra son menos reflectivos que el hielo y absorben mayor cantidad de radiación solar. Estocausa un mayor calentamiento de la superficie terrestre, que a su vez hace que se siganderritiendo los polos, lo que causa aún más calentamiento y así sucesivamente el ciclocontinua.
Además, el CO2 y el CH4 depositados en la atmosfera crean una especie de barrera quedevuelve el calor que alcanza a ser reflejado por la superficie de la tierra.
