Commissioning used to be a simple step within the conventional construction discipline as a back-end process for an owner to have an insight of the building’s final performance. However, by the turn of the new millennium, the commissioning process has been redefined by many organisations as an integrated process that is to be commenced even at the early stage of a project. Most prominent green building rating systems appreciate the value of commissioning and emphasize its importance. However, the market has responded to the new definition with confusion and the commissioning process is often one of the most obscured and debated items in the development of high performance buildings.

To lead off this seminar, ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, Mr Ron Wilkinson of New York, will impart his knowledge on this subject. The workshop speakers will then share their experience on the reality and hands-on successful commissioning of some high performance green buildings with the aim of disseminating a better understanding of the fundamentals and enhanced value of commissioning to building systems. This workshop serves to aid serious green professionals to realise the value of proper commissioning for high performance green buildings. Potential and existing registered GBI Commissioning Specialists will be briefed on the expectation of the GBI rating system.

Skyrise greenery is a new concept of green or landscape design. The concept is quick been regarded as a solution for bet-ter environmental quality, energy consumption and social spaces. Nevertheless, how people perceived Skyrise Greenery? It is argued that if Skyrise Greenery does not really meeting people needs, the concept will become a design trend that might not sustain.
