INTRODUCTION (Characteristics of Korean) Name of the language: • Korean: International name following the country name using this language; they are Republic of Korea (south) and People’s Republic of Korea (north) • Hangugeo ( 한한한 ): After the name, Hangug ( 한한 ), by which ROK people calls their own country. ‘Eo ( 한 )’ means language. Often called simply Gugeo ( 한한 ). • Joseonmal ( 한한한 ): Following the name Joseon ( 한한 ), by which PRK people calls theit own country. • Goryeoeo ( 한한한 ): The Korean used among the Korean people, Goryeoin ( 한한한 ) in the old USSR region People who speaks Korean: ca. 78 million ROK, PRK (the native language) Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in People's Republic of China (official language with Chinese) Other immigrant societies in Central Asia, Japan, USA etc.
