停電が起き,電力の供給が突然ストップすると,たとえ瞬間であってもコンピュータなどの機器は機能が安全に停止することができず,ハードウェアの損傷やデータの消失などのトラブルが発生する。そこで,停電が起きても,コンピュータを安全に停止させる時間や自家発電装置が稼動するまでの時間,電力を供給するUPSが必要。 これらは直流で動作しているため、接続する際に交流給電の場合、電力変換を4回行うため、変換損失が発生。交流と直流の間の変換効率は80%程度しかなく、1段階の変換の度に20%前後の電力エネルギーが熱となって排出される。変換時に排出される熱は、データセンターの空調機によって冷却されるため、この空調機の電力分も無駄となっている。 直流給電の場合は、交流電力を直流へ変換し、直接蓄電池に接続することが可能。そのため内部のDCDC変換を含め、2回の変換ですむため、比較して電力変換が少ない分効率改善が得られる。 直流給電は、データセンターで導入されており、シンプルな構成のため機器故障の確率が少なくなり、高い信頼性を維持している。 48V直流給電の場合デメリット2つある。一つは近年ICT装置(サーバ等)の電力消費の増加に伴い電流が増加するため、ケーブルが太くなり敷設の施工性が悪くなる。もう一つは、48Vで長距離で送電しようとした場合、電圧降下が起きて、長距離化できない。データセンターを構築する場合大きいものが作れない。 380V直流給電の場合、シンプルな構成のため信頼性が高く、変換段数も少ないことから電力ロスも低減でき、電圧を高くするため電流が減り、ケーブルの細経化が可能。

This the New Shirasagi Electric Main Building which is the first 380VDC ZEB facility in Japan. About the power conserved, during the engineering stage total conserved energy including other power saving measures such as sun powered heater, natural ventilation was 75%, but in actual base on latest data, total conserved energy of this facility is 75%, so it is the first DC powered Nearly ZEB project ever completed in Japan. This is the 3-storey building, total floor area 2 thousand sq.m, there are 50 stuffs.
