INTRODUCTION

Zorbit Environmental is a native Zambian owned Environment consulting company incorporated in 2005. We are specialised in environmental mitigation services relating to hazardous waste management, chemical disposal, Air quality audits (stack gas monitoring and dust emission monitoring) 24 Hours emergency spill response service, industrial waste clean ups, borehole/Mineral exploration drilling, waste incineration, soil and water reclamation, bio treatment of most waste streams in and environmentally responsible and safe manner. We manage and construct tailings dam for the mines. We have an absorbent division which supply industrial oil and chemical absorbents and pollution units which are IUSO 14001 certified.

Enviroserv Waste Management (PTY) Limited is South Africas leading hazardous waste Management Company listed on Johannesburg stock exchange and running the biggest Hazmat and solid waste landfills in South Africa and Namibia, and the Sun International Hotel dump site in Livingstone. It has also acquired 80% stake in the Brollo group of companies specialising in the planning, design, construction and management of tailings dams.

Zorbit Environmental has a strong team of technically qualified and equipped engineers with a broad range of environmental competencies. Our unique competence and long term international experience has provided Zorbit with a firm foundation for mitigating environmental degradation effects through pollution control systems.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND RISK ASSESSMENTS

We are able to develop Environmental Systems Standards, Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Project Briefs (with more than 200 reference projects), Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans, baseline studies conforming to local and international regulations.

Zorbits challenge is to combine idealistic objectives with multidisciplinary and professional experience in developing environmentally sound solutions that are sustainable, appropriate and cost-effective.

Zorbit Environmental provides comprehensive Best Available Techniques Not Entailing Excessive Costs (BATAEEC) and Best Practicable Environmental Options (BPEO). These cover most up to date technologies commercially available for emissions and waste minimisation.

We share resources, manpower and technology with internationally accredited companies such as Enviroserv, Spill Tech, Environmental Resource Management, Enviroconsult, Norconsult, M & L Laboratories, UNZA and Analytical Milieu Laboratories Netherlands. We are the only Environment company in Zambia with Green accreditation on safety with BP Zambia now Puma Energy Zambia.

HAZMAT SERVICES

The division was established in 2005, Zorbit Hazmat services offers a 24 hour support service for emergency hazardous materials spillage containment, clean ups and onsite remediation. The successful and safe management of hazardous materials and environmental emergencies demands the talents, skills and experience of a group of specialists supported by an extensive inventory of rolling stock, hardware and materials. Through its logistics solutions division, Zorbit promises to provide customers with the quickest, most efficient reliable and cost effective service bearing in mind the best practicable environmental option (BPEO). We are very committed to environmental responsibility and can assure our customers that any waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, will be handled and processed according to the most appropriate environmental guidelines.

Chemical emergencies requiring containment/remediation include motorway, railway and aircraft accidents as well as industrial fires, explosions and similar occurrences. Clean ups operations have been executed in streams, wetlands, storm water systems and valleys.

These operations include a wide variety of chemical mixtures covering all UN hazard classes. Hazardous materials emergencies are inherently dangerous events demanding high levels of health and safety practices. The unity is proud of not having had a single reportable fatality accident since inception. We have and impressive line-up of internal and external specialists, ranging from chemical and health analysts to bio remediation and toxicological analysis, which provide support to the unit during operations.

ZORBIT HAZWASTE INCINERATOR (THERMO DIVISION)

Zorbit Environmental has purchased state of the art modern incinerator for disposal of hazardous waste. The incinerator has a wet scrubber cleaning mechanism that is able to clean up fumes as they are discharged in the atmosphere.

(Pharmaceutical/Medical Waste Disposal)We are able to dispose of chemical / Pharmaceutical / Medical / infectious waste /oil sludge in an environmentally sound manner accepted by the governing regulations.

The incinerator is the biggest in the country and it is located at Landfill and meets the minimum requirements for operating incinerators worldwide.

We provide integrated comprehensive solutions from collection, transport, recycling, treatment and disposal master plans.

Zorbit Environmental is the first environmental company to dispose of PCBs using Thermo Power Process of South Africa. We were able to destruct PCBs without using any foreign assistance. The whole process was completed with the aid of local expertise.

Now in Zambia is our new treatment facility that is able to clean and recycle transformers contaminated with PCBs.

We have acquired a Mobile incinerator which is capable of disposing of PCBs contaminated oil and POPs through high Temperature incineration using Thermal desorption Technology with modern scrubber mechanism to clean up dioxins and furans with self-sampling equipment.

This achievement will result in low cost solution in disposing of PCBs. no transportation cost, no high insurance premiums; no inter border permit and paper work needed to dispose of PCBs.

The mobile Facility is approved by Basal convention. We are able to analyse quantify, pack, recycle contaminated transformers and dispose of PCB materials locally in Zambia using local labour force.

DAM ENGINEERING

Zorbit Environmental Limited provides Aquatan Geomembrane lining products for small farm dams to full blown major civil engineering designs and construction projects that replace concrete, clay and steel in water/Hazardous Waste retaining applications at less cost.

Zorbits engineers are registered and certified for construction, maintenance and inspection of dam structures according to the stringent international requirements of the mine safety and environmental laws. These requirements are adopted and applied to our assignments ensuring that local requirement standards and conditions are included in the program of inspection and plant maintenance.

DAM SAFETY

Zorbit uses advanced software for static and dynamic finite elements of arch dams, slab and buttress dams, single and double-curvature shelled structures. This software is also used for permeability flow modelling of porous materials in embankment dams and temperature gradient modelling, calculation of crack width, necessary reinforcement and reinforcement of concrete stress and strain concrete dams.

(Dam Breach Formation)

Zorbit overall goals of the dams is to assess the safety of the existing dams to improve design with emphasis on unexpected water flow through the dams to improve analysis on dam breaching.

We run and manage Chambishi Tailings Dams and sewer ponds since 2007 to Date.

SOIL ENGINEERING (BIO-REMEDIATION)

(Soil and Water Remediation)Zorbit Environmental are experts in remediation of historically polluted sites. We are experts in soil and water remediation using modern technologies accepted by Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA), DWAF and EPA specifications. We provide assessment of treatment methods planning and design of biological treatment plants which are aerobic, anaerobic and mixed solutions with monitoring schemes.

We decommission and clean up old filling station sites and garages meant for portfolio as well as land use change such as farming. Our services include land/soil farming, polluted ground water recovery, on-site bio-remediation and off-site bio-remediation

BOREHOLE DRILLING

Zorbit Environmental has diversified and acquired machinery (Rig) for borehole drilling and environmental monitoring wells. The drilling team comprises former steward and Lloyds experienced workers with more than 15 years work experience. Zorbit drilling services in past one year undertook a huge tender with Puma Energy to Drill 180 monitoring wells in depots and retail outlets in Zambia and Malawi. The tender was divided in phases to which phase one and two have being completed. Phase one involved drilling 17 wells in Kitwe depot, Lusaka depot and Kanengo depot in Lilongwe Malawi while phase 2 involved drilling of 51 monitoring wells at various puma energy filling stations around the country. Other jobs done- drilling of seven boreholes at Misenga dump site, drilling of Five boreholes for Total (Z) Ltd Ndola and Lusaka depots, drilling of four boreholes at Chambishi Metals, drilling of Four boreholes Sabina Settlement area in Kalulushi, drilling of five monitoring wells at Engens Buyantanshi depot in Lusaka.

Zorbit has done works outside Zambia for Tenke, Fungulume and Cameco Congo mines which involved drilling of boreholes- exploration and installation of water reticulation systems.

With environmental awareness issues becoming more and more topical, and regulatory bodies strengthening their monitoring and enforcement capacities, this diversification is not only viewed as presenting good prospects for the company, but also contributing to increased environmental protection measures for the benefit of all stakeholders.

LABORATORY SUPPORT SERVICES

(Underground Water Sampling )Zorbit Environmental undertakes qualitative and quantitative PCBs audits by screening contaminated equipment using Clor-N-Oil 50 and Analytical Milieu laboratories of the Netherlands. We are the only environmental consultants to dispose of PCBs in Zambia for ZAMEFA and Chambishi Metals inconformity with our local legislation, Basel conversion, Trans boundary Laws and Final Disposal Certification using Thermo power Processing Plant in South Africa.

Zorbit Environmental constructs state of the art monitoring wells which are designed to survive dry periods. Our soils division is capable of assessing hydrocarbon /chemical and heavy metal contamination using flighted drilling augers.

Hydrocarbon contaminated Soil and water samples are analysed using DRO (Diesel Range Organics) / GRO (Gasoline Range Organics) / BETAX-N.

The results are interpreted using RIBCA system (Risk impact based collective approach).

(Peat Sorb Absorbent Fibre)ABSORBANT DISTRIBUTION

Zorbit provides industrial oil absorbent materials, Chemical absorbents and Acid binders for spill containment. We are the sole distributors of Peat Sorb Oil Absorbent, the only absorbent with ISO 14001 Certification and SEG incinerate.

Our sales office stocks Oil / chemical wheely bin spill kits for industries, filling stations, garages and Forecourts. Truck Spill kits for Hazmat Transporters, Bio Mix and Enzymes for bio-augmentation. Repair party for leaking tanks and drums.

Zorbit Environmental is a distributor for South African Fine and Industrial Chemicals (SAFIC) which manufactures industrial cleaning chemicals for all types of industries including environmentally friendly chemicals such as biodegradable degreasers.

About The Green Machine Waterless Car Wash System

AGRICULTURAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Zorbit Environmental provides agriculture technical support and professional back stopping for agriculture related projects as well as supplying fertilizers for improved crop productivity through internationally renowned sources in the Middle East and Egypt.

Zorbit Environmental conducts soil sampling and analysis to determine soil fertility regimes in various farming systems for fertilizer recommendations.

Zorbit Environmental also specialises in the formulation and transportation of specific fertilizers to suit a wide range of crop requirements as specified by the clients with in the farming communities; bio- nutrients for land farming purposes in bio-remediation; as well as disposure of expired agro related inputs and chemicals operating collaboratively with Enviroserv of South Africa.
