Answer This should be the “main idea.”   

● Do not give specific details.  Think of the types of conflicts, character traits, and other general ideas discussed.   

● Do not use “because” after your answer.   ● Put a period. 

    

  

Citation #1 ● Be sure to go back into the text to locate a 

quote to support your answer.   ○ Needs to be a direct piece of 

evidence that someone stated in the text.

citations prove your answer ● Think of what this tells you about the plot, 

characters, or conflict ● Think of cause and effect to help you.

Extend to your life or world ● Look back at the “answer.” ● How can you relate to this? ● Be sure NOT to say you did the same 

event/topic as the characters.  Make it about you or the world.
