Revision Date: 4 Jun 2009 IUT-IUAT-015-EX Version 1.5

1 INTRODUCTIONThe Uplink Access Test (UAT) is required for all IPSTAR terminals. During this

process, the antenna has to be aligned to reach the minimum antenna pointing error for both transmiting and receiving path. Then, the maximum transmiting power for the Block Up Converter (BUC) is calibrated to seek the maximum dynamic range for the transmit link. After that, polarization of the feed-horn needs to be adjusted to match with that of sent from satellite. At the end, all test results will be submitted to the Uplink Access Test Quality Control (UATQC) process in order to verify whether the quality of the installation is acceptable. Every process needs to be followed carefully to affirm that the installation has been performed properly and equipment is ready for IPSTAR service.

The IPSTAR Uplink Access Test (iUAT) is the updated version for the UAT program. The iUAT is customized in order to be able to work with the requirement for the IPSTAR satellite. There are several new features added in this version. The following items are highlighted features;

1. Automatic searching for the best TOLL frequency2. On site best beam searching support

The user can specify exact location by entering the latitude and longitude of the site. The program will select the best TOLL frequency automatically. For this feature, the user has to specify the latitude and longitude in decimal format i.e. 100.8973

3. Supports UAT-QC4. Automatic searching for the system profile

4 BEFORE RUNNING THE PROGRAM

Figure 6: Connectivity diagram between notebook and IPSTAR equipment

1. Connect the terminal with the ODU (the TX port to the BUC and the RX port to the LNB).

2. Connect the computer to the terminal .You can use a cross-cable to connect directly through LAN card or USB port.

3. Make sure that your computer ip address is configured in the same network as terminal’s.

The IPSTAR terminal default ip address is 192.168.5.100 for ETH or 192.168.0.1 for USB port.

4. Turn on the terminal and test the connection link by using “ping” command.5. Open the web browser such as Internet Explorer and then browse to the terminal

configuration page by using below links. http://192.168.5.100:8080/xWebGateway.cgi (if ethernet port is

used) http://192.168.0.1:8080/xWebGateway.cgi (if usb port is used)

5 RUNNING THE PROGRAM Double click on the iUAT icon on the desktop to start the program. There are 2 modes for the installation of IPSTAR UT.

terminal to feed assembly, antenna, IDU and other necessary equipment with the 10 meters cables, installer needs to run iUAT software. In this mode, the installer has to minimize the antenna pointing error and polarization. This mode is devided into 8 steps.

Step 1: Authentication

At this step, the following information is required to enter to designated area before proceeding.

Installer ID: an authorized ID given to those who has passed UTI training. Password: password related with given installer ID. Job ID: 8 digits hexadecimal number obtained from job order. Authorized Code: 20 characters authorization code obtained from job

order. Latitude/Longitude :the information of geographical location to facilitate

iUAT program to locate the best available beam for your coverage area(optional).

Language: language option of iUAT program.(Contact your SP for these information)
