I VE GOT IT MADE! (...?) Today s Gospel reminds us of what life is all about. Gods gift of life is meant to be wonderful. Of the all the trillions of people He could have chosen to bring into existence, He arranged, with the procreative collaboration of our parents and grandparents and generations past, to bring us into eternal existence! Life brings us adventure and awe from day one until the day when we are called into the next life. There are ups and downs. There are moments of such joy and happiness that we thank the Lord and wish that the moment would never end. There are moments of fear and near despair when we beg the Lord to have mercy on us and take away the difficulty (health emergency, family crisis, etc.). All of life is an adventure. When we put it all in perspective - especially in the light of the Lords promise of life eternal! - we accept and deal with all issues more calmly, trusting in the Lord. Death? We are will all pass from this life. It is still difficult as we are programmedto love life and to want to stay with the people that we love and who love us. Success? We all enjoy success in a way and to a degree that is unique to each of us. If we start comparing ourselves to others we lose sight of Gods Will for us . Someone elses talents and million$ are not ours. Such wealth and opportunity may bring him/her lifelong anxiety and sadness and, God forbid, loss of life eternal (Mark 8:36). We followers of Christ hopefully get the Gospel message enough to understand that our wealth - be it massive or seemingly small - is granted to us to enjoy, yes, but also to do some good in the world! The good we want to do is not in amassing material things that will disappear from sight and memory one day sooner or later (Matthew 6:19). What we want to do with our wealth is to use it for the good of those around us (yes, family members included, if they need it). Especially in things and programs that would provide acts of charity corporal and spiritual. Sponsoring a source that brings the truth of the Gospel into the world (e.g. Catholic press and media); supporting or building a healthcare facility or program for the sick and the elderly that is operated in the Catholic spirit where they would be safe from the culture of death flooding into our society; a great conference that would bring especially youth together to explore the Faith; getting behind an effort of Evangelization; prayer events; life- changing pilgrimages; suresupporting your local parish too (especially new pastoral programs); etc. We want to think about what we are doing with what we have. Are we using it effectively for our own Salvationand, if possible, for the salvation of our neighbour(s)...

Attention all Parishioners… Due to the unforeseen illness of our Parish Office Manager, Carlene Deptuch, we will be restricting

office hours for the next few weeks. The new office hours will be as follows: Monday thru Thursday - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Fridays - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Antin Slobada and Paulina Berezanska will be on duty to carry out simple office duties...answering phones and emails, booking Divine Liturgies and vigil lights, photocopying (still with fair notice) and of course assisting all Parishioners if the need arises for hospital visits and all emergencies.

Please remember that if you do find yourself in the case of an emergency and/or need to get a hold of Father Michael and the office is closed—you can always call him directly at 204-996-1310.

All other duties of the office will still be carried out by the Office Manager Carlene but not necessarily during the above-posted office hours so - if you need to get a hold of her please do not hesitate to email or leave her a message on her cell phone at 204-880-1334 and she will get back to you as soon as possible. * We hope that with all your help and assistance, and especially by your prayer and the Grace of our Lord, this transition will go smoothly and everything will be back to normal by the New Year!!! But do come by and say HELLO!

Immaculate Heart of Mary School will be hosting their Annual Fund Raising Raffle on November 28, and has the potential of distributing up to $7,000.00 in prizes. The final ticket drawn will be awarded $ 3,000.00. Proceeds from this Raffle will be used for the advancement of educational programs at the school. As there are only 500 tickets available, your chances of winning are great! Immaculate Heart of Mary School is the only Ukrainian Catholic School in Manitoba. It is administered by the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate. Immaculate Heart provides a Christian education for children and youth from Kindergarten to Grade Eight, and as well, offers Immaculate Heart of Mary Lubov Nursery School for children ages 2,3 and 4 years of age. “St Philip’s Fast” or “Advent” is the time when Christians prepare to greet Christ—who came as a babe in a manger, who comes into our lives each day, and who will come again at the end of time. Advent is the time when people of faith are most at odds with the culture. The church calls people to focus on getting ready to receive Christ—preparing hearts and lives to make room for Jesus, to live as he would have us live. It is a time of longing, not fulfillment. Quiet reflection, not celebration. The culture, however, is already in a time of festivity, unable or unwilling, to wait and contemplate and prepare for the real festival. It is not easy to observe Advent without being pulled prematurely into Christmas. How does St. Nicholas fit into all of this? He is an Advent saint because his December 6th feast day always falls in early Advent (Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas between November 27 and December 3). However, Nicholas is a good Advent saint for more important reasons than the date of his special day. Whatever he did, and it is said that he did many kinds of amazing things, may not be as important as the way he did it. Nicholas became so popular because he was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. His life clearly reflected the way each one of us is called to show God's love to others, especially those in need. Celebrating St. Nicholas on his day in Advent brings a bit of fun and festivity into homes, churches, and schools. His small treats and surprises help keep the spirit of good St. Nicholas, especially when stories of his goodness and kind deeds are told and ways to express his care for those in need are sought. Saint Nicholas helps us remember Christmas is a feast of love, hope, kindness and generosity. Yes, Nicholas is a good Advent/Pylypivka saint.

85th Holodomor Commemoration November 24

1st Event: 1:00 p.m.

at Winnipeg City Hall in front of the Holodomor monument Mother and Child. Traditionally the event begins with a Panakhyda service prayed at the site of the Holodomor Monument led by Ukrainian Metropolitans His Grace Lawrence Huculak and His Eminence Yurij (Kalistchuk), who are joined by clergy and choirs and many faithful from Winnipeg's Ukrainian community. It's usually a cold day.... but a beautiful event of prayer, witness and determination that this genocide is remembered and never happens again to anyone.

2nd Event: 6:00 p.m.

Here at our own Holy Eucharist Church - Panakhyda with Metropolitan Lawrence and other clergy, Macenko Choir, reflections, video, Lighting of the candles, and very humble reception…

YOU’LL WANT TO BE HERE!

We are staring up our much-enjoyed Bible Study and Adult Faith Exploration Evenings!

THIS MONDAY NOVEMBER 19th! We will begin with a Bible Study group every Monday evening beginning at 6:30 PM at the Parish Church Auditorium

[lower level of the church]. All parishioners are invited! We will

be starting with the Writings of St. Luke as the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission has issued a reading guide for St. Luke. We will be joining the whole church in ’walking’ through St. Luke’s The basic text will be used is the “Revised Standard Version” which is available from our Holy Eucharist Bookstore as the “Ignatius Bible” and the “Didache Bible”. These are great Bibles as they include excellent commentaries! However, bring the versions that you have and they will serve the purpose. To give us an idea of how many to expect, please call ahead to the Parish Office [204-667-8866] or directly to Subdeacon Anton Sloboda who is the organizing coordinator of the program [204-361-5071]!
